Do I understand this bulk grain thing correctly?

For storage i use Behrens metal trash cans with lids. Available at the big box stores and made in the US ! Both the 6 gallon and 31 gallon size are useful and the lids fit tight. Made of steel so rodent proof. I leave the grains in their original packaging then place inside the cans. I use the...

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

I just started my 2nd batch a week ago. Instead of corn I used instant rice (I was out of corn meal) Also used pale ale malt instead of standard two row. Instead of waiting for a week to add the amylase I added it when I pitched the yeast(trying to reduce oxygen by not opening fermenter to add...

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

I have to say this is a very nice dry, crisp ale. I served to a number of friends and relatives over the last few weeks and it is always well received. The flavor seemed to really improve about 4 weeks post brewing and after 2 weeks chilled in the keg. Thanks again for the recipe!

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

If the room is not warm enough I use a seed starting heat mat to help. They are cheap on amazon or the big box stores. By sitting your carboy on the mat and wrapping in a towel you can bring the temp up quite a bit The heat mat can bring the temp up several degrees depending on how you wrap the...

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

You may want to give your fermentor a swirl to re- suspend the lazy little guys.

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

I kegged the beer today - 2/11 (needed space in the cold chamber for a lager) I brewed the beer on 1/28 and added enzyme to primary six days later. After 7 days with enzyme in primary I still had tiny bubbles coming to the surface and a tiny bit of white foam similar to rsumms picture. My...

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

After 6 days in primary the bubbles were down to 1 per 90 seconds. I hydrated one teaspoon of amylase enzyme in 4 oz of previously boiled and cooled water than I added the enzyme solution to the primary. After one hour the bubble rate increased to 1 per10 seconds. It must be working! I've got...

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

Brewed this yesterday. I did a cereal mash with corn meal, whisked 2 lbs into 2.5 gallons of boiling water and simmered for 15 minutes. I tried this for two reasons, never did it before and the cost difference. Corn meal @ .50 /lb vs flaked corn @ 1.89/lb. Not sure the labor and cleanup were...

    Blue Moon Clone

Picture of Hydro sample, this is K97 yeast 14 days in primary, then 4 days cold crash. 83% attenuation, still cloudy (good for wheat) overall flavor is good but no orange flavor that I can detect, slightly tart. I had a bottled Blue Moon yesterday no orange flavor either. I will make a vodka...

    Blue Moon Clone

The A20 yeast sounds interesting I have never used it, hopefully it will enhance the brew. The K97 will take a lot longer. I did find the spice underwhelming. I have brewed wheat beers before and used more peel and coriander. I am not picking up any orange smell from the fermentor which would...

    Blue Moon Clone

Brewed slight variation on Wayne's recipe 5.5 gal mainly posting because I am using Safale K97 yeast. There have been few write ups with this yeast particularly with wheat beers. I used it with a Kolsch and it turned out nice. 4.5lb Viking Pilsner 3.6 lb White wheat malt 1lb Flaked oats 1 oz...
