    M&B vs Brewzilla vs Foundry

I have a similar interest. I’m also considering the Foundry and Brewzilla … but no comments in this thread since the original post 9 months ago??

Big Mouth Bubbler - Siphonless - Yes or No

I ordered one of the ported BMB recently from Northern Brewer (my first order there) and when it arrived, I was aghast at the ragged hole for the spigot. It seemed unlikely to seal properly and impossible to effectively sanitize.I contacted Northern Brewer with pictures and they said that it was...

Anyone tried *new* Briess Goldpils Vienna malt?

Anyone interested in the character of this malt in a commercial brew may want to check out Portland Brewing's 2015 Summer S.M.A.S.H. release, brewed with Goldpils Vienna and Simcoe hops.

    OverAcidulated Pils! Help?

Not sure of the ph of my water, but it's all well water, and I thought it better to err on the acid side; I'll add some distilled to it to keep the mineral content low). I got enough additional malt to make a 9g batch (it'll take some trickery) and so reduce the ratio of acidulated malt to 3.7%...

    OverAcidulated Pils! Help?

Think I'll add sufficient malt to crank up the batch size to 8g. and call it good. I'll report back on how it all turns out.:mug:

    OverAcidulated Pils! Help?

About to brew a Czech Pilsner and found an error on the grain bill... I intended 4 oz. of acidulated malt and got 12 oz. It's already ground together (of course) as follows: 12# German 2-row pils 0.75# Light Munich 0.75# Acidulated Malt 0.25# Melanoidin Malt This is for a 6g. batch...

    amylase enzyme... A.k.a... beano

Thought I'd add a note to this thread. I used 15 drops of liquid beano (amylase) to the secondary of this 1.059 OG blueberry ale, partly to attempt a somewhat lower carb ale, and partly just to see what it'd do. Held out a gallon without the beano for a control. Well, the control finished at...

Hop Pests ID thread: Pics, descriptions and solutions

Found him on my Mt Hood at harvest. Got almost 8 oz wet from a second-year planting (dried to 3 1/2). This critter peeked out of an obviously damaged cone. These things were pretty rare this year, but I found one in the Cascades too, and I don't like the idea of finding a dried one floating...

We Have a Project - PACMAN YEAST!

I dearly love Rogue's Shakespeare Stout, but I wanted to try a PacMan imperial first. I pitched a "seat of your pants" hi-grav oatmeal stout on 12/27. It started at .082 and was down to .025 when I moved it to the secondary today. Can't wait to try it, but I plan to leave it in the secondary a...

    Yeast preference poll

I'm thinking you've never visited Portland, OR, my friend. Something like 60 brewpubs, microbreweries and craft brewers in one widely grinning town! It's not hard to visit a new one every time I pass through, and I'm just across the Columbia. They don't call it Beervana for nothing! Just to...

Ferment too High or too Low?

I'd definitely go below; it'll slow the fermintation but it shouldn't cause flavor problems. Too high can easily give you some off flavors. I speak from experience!

    Coffee stout

I too use the cold-drip method and the French Roast Porter I brewed was one of my favorites. Worked great for a Chocolate Mocha Porter too... http://www.beertools.com/html/recipe.php?view=4370
