    New hop leaf growth yellowish?

This is my first year growing hops. I am growing them for fun, and if I end up with a few for beer, great! My main question is that my new growth leads seem to start yellowish and then green up. Is this normal, or do I need more/ less water? Perhaps some food for the plants.hops 2 by Drewed...

Mash PH issue, need some help....

Just as a thought, you should run your RO filter on softened water. Ca and Mg are the number one killers of RO membranes behind chlorine. Ideal setup would be : Whole house sediment filter, softener / carbon filter ( location depends on the amount of hardness and coloring in the water.) and...

    Cleaning your Bag

Wash the bag?!?! What sort of evil voodoo ritual is this? Lol I rinse the bag in warm water, turning it inside out to get all the grain boogies out, then hang to dry. No soap, no Oxy. Same thing with the hop sock. Sure they are a little brown and green, but so? The beer dosn’t mind the...

    Recirculating Beer line cleaner

I think you are correct. You could just use the 3/8" barb to 1/4" NPT. IT doesn't help that the parts he lists are not what is pictured.

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

In the 'Bigdaddyale' diagram they are grounding a metal case that the powersupply might be placed in ( if not using a wall wort.) For your transformer just ignore the grounding wire from the Mains to the grounded shield. Ignore the shoddy MS paint.

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

just for giggles, if you can, try disconnecting the relay board. That will allow you to test the Arduino and the sensors by themselves. Who know, you may be getting some weird ground loop interference voodoo. I also notice that between the two wire diagrams, that one ties the Arduino into the...

Help with BIAB Process and Switched Water Source - Beer Tastes Different

You based your additions off of a old water report that wasn’t taken from your taps. If your going to make alterations to your water, you should have a water profile done on your water, not the water from where ever the city took their samples. If you don’t want to get a test kit, or send a...

Help with BIAB Process and Switched Water Source - Beer Tastes Different

Did you take your own water chemistries, or did you get a report from the city? You are pretty low on Ca and Mg, but high on salt, do you have a water softener? Your water profile looks like my softened water profile. Where are you located? And do you know your city’s water source?

When to add fruit flavour to cider?

I totally can agree with that. You logic makes more sense than mine. In actuality I don’t know why it happens, but the later you add fruit, the more “fruity” and less “winey” it seems to taste.

confused about making chemical-free sweet cider

Yep, both in one step. Time depends on the yeast and temperature. I have a gauge in a screw top plastic bottle. When the gauge reads the pressure I want, I pasteurize.

When to add fruit flavour to cider?

Usually a pound of fruit is recommended per gallon of brew. When you add them is up to you. The later in the process, the less sugar will ferment out of the fruit and the less "wine" taste it will have. I'd toss 1/2 a pound of cherries in a fermenter and then rack the cider onto them. Give...

Not so good turbo/hard cider results

I'll sound like a Richard, I'm not that way. White sugar (table) or corn sugar do not add ANY sweetness to a fermenting beverage. All they do is up the ABV. You can add so much that it can't ferment out, but that is nasty. In beer, increasing the %ABV gives the effect of a dryer brew as the...
