    Fermentation taking forevvveeerrrrr...

Brewed a maibock five weeks ago, pitched with some WLP820 I had harvested from my Oktoberfest batch last fall. I made a starter of course, but because it was harvested I really can't say exactly how much I had, but I do believe it was a slight underpitch. Fermentation at 55F started up...

Mash temp too high for a few minutes...problem?

I have a dubbel mashing as we speak. I'm still getting used to all-grain, and seem to flub something each time...this time I must have measured by water temp poorly, because the mash temp came in a little over 160 (target was 152). I downloaded BrewTarget and ran through their getting-started instructions, I think I get it. Seems like BeerSmith is the top software, at least it gets the most mentions...can someone tell me what it does better than BrewTarget, or what it does that BrewTarget doesn't do? Just trying to...

    Hello from Ohio

Hello all. I've been homebrewing for about a year and a half now, learned a lot lurking on these forums. Every time I Google something about beer (most recently advice on kettles) I usually wind up here, so figured I may as well stop lurking and start talking. Got a maibock lagering in the...
