    Fitting question - ideas?

Time to resurrect this- I ordered the parts from the aforementioned vendor- thanks Bobby, quick and reasonably priced. The pictures are pre-soldered and show the arrangement. I will be creating some sort of wort sprinkling holes after soldering, testing along the way. **What I need help...

How to build a CFC- the wrong way

And the chill in action- actually finished- I would have posted this above but after updating my phone it doesn't talk to my computer

How to build a CFC- the wrong way

**Update** I finally got around to trying this thing- I was waiting to assemble the rest of my E-brew system- so what did I find? 1- the 'cold' side seems to flow just fine 2- The small beige pump pushes the water (wort) through the inner coil quite easily 3- I think it works very well-...

Garden pride and question- So Cal

I have picked several times- seems these things mature randomly up and down the bine- like weeks apart. Normal? I was concerned that the so cal desert heat would fri these guys- nope. The portion of the plant that grew over the pergola and gets better sun are ready sooner. I think I could pick...

    Newbie to electric brewing

Avoid "should" I'm sure the guy was doing good work for a fair price- Jot down the brand and amperage and head down to the local big box store for a replacement GFI breaker- the work is simple to do. But if you are unsure in any way- call the guy and have him do the swap. With 60amps x 2 you...

    Single vessel 120v build

I think the wiring is done! i think. I will retrace each line and reassure myself before I plug the thing in. Then I need to tidy up the wires. And eventually label the various components. Any thoughts? questions?

    Single vessel 120v build

With the speed of an opium inspired sloth I have made additional progress. Replaced the end of my RTD connectors with an XLR plug- its amazing how unnerving it is to cut a perfectly good, factory installed connector. (of course I did drill a hole or two in my kettle...) After some judicious...

Garden pride and question- So Cal

The Grand Harvest Now I don't want y'all to get overly jealous but your eyes are being treated to the sight of 50 grams (about 2oz) of the finest southern California grown Chinook Hops (and 3 Zeus because, they asked to be picked) After a day in the loft of my shed they dried to 1/2 oz, seems...

    Single vessel 120v build

Minor update- I crafted a ground for the kettle- which I thought was clever but received a cold reception. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=588960 Drilled holes and modified the control box. Don't worry it will get cleaned up. Also I think I am going to hinge it on the 'open'...

    "eazy" kettle ground

Steve- thanks, I saw that and when I ordered parts from Bobby it was out of stock. I might go that route on my 'next' build. My hope here was to add to the body of knowledge and offer alternatives for anyone interested.

    "eazy" kettle ground

I have seen plenty of that 'box' type cover. It always looked too bulky to me- and it creates one more layer of metal that the element threads have to hold and seal. So in jest I mention killing two birds with one bird- my daughter, maybe 5 at the time, says "I guess you have three dead birds"

    "eazy" kettle ground

Indeed! If only someone offered a sleek solution. Maybe that I could purchase online... ;-) Fear not, they shall be covered.

    "eazy" kettle ground

If this has been covered in other places on the forum, feel free to ignore and allow this to trickle into home-brewing oblivion... Kettle grounding seems to be a serious concern- electricity and water (wort) could be dangerous. So when planning my build several grounding ideas flowed through...

Garden pride and question- So Cal

Here is my magnificent hop forest. A wild hair a few months ago turned into this. First year- containers- and fingers crossed. I chose Cascades- Chinooks- Nuggets- and Zeus based on what the local commercial growers were offering- these were the most often used/offered varieties. Seemed a good...

    2016 Hop Growing Thread

Are they ready to be picked?- likely not- if you want to know for sure, pop one off and inspect. The pic further up looks close- this is a chinook from this morning - still quite green and smells of grass more than hop.

And chinook close up- sorry about the multipost and thread ambush. Would love to see how the neomexican hops finish and flavor a beer. Would be nice to have 'native' hops.

    2016 SD Hop Garden

Out in the east county of San Diego it gets hot, like really hot. I didn't realize I was supposed to have little success- don't tell my hops, shhhhh. Planted cascades, chinook, nuggets, and Zeus. I selected based on what most commercial farms in the area grow. This is year one, and I too used...
