    Stuck mash

A friend and I were brewing a Pilsner today using 100% Pilsner malt and did a three step mash. 104, 140, and 158 degrees for thirty min each. At the end of the first step, we went to turn the pump on to run the wort through the Herms coil and it was stuck as stuck can be. We used the paddle to...

For Real? Keurig / Inbev Collaboration - Homebrew Device

I could be wrong, how is that different from some other automated brew machine? Just curious. Maybe because you can't choose what you put in it?

    Pilsner Not Clearing

I brewed a Pilsner in sept last year and kegged it. I would sample it from time to time but I was getting similar results, cloudy and didn't taste real great. I even served it to friends who didn't seem to mind. But I just kicked that keg a couple days ago and it was just starting to taste...

Can a plastic bucket just break?

Haha I know what you mean. All my brewing is done in the garage or outside, I have had many spills and accidents. If they happened in the house I would be in big trouble. Just be careful!

    Stout refuses to prime!

I had a stout take a long time to carb up also. Probably 4 or 5 weeks. I don't know if it was because it was a darker beer, I think because it was wintertime had more to do with it.

    St. Paul Porter

i always do that. I don't think you have to but it makes me feel better. I never squeeze the bag although I hear that people that do BIAB often squeeze the bag to get all the sugars out. I've never done biab though

Fixing a keggle hole: so...I screwed this one up

Something like that happened to me where the hole wasn't quite the shape I wanted, and I had leaks. the weldless valve kit I got only included one of those red gaskets, I just ordered a couple more gaskets and put them on both sides and it worked ever since. Don't know if that will help, but...

    I hate bottling...

Fwiw, after pouring out a bottled beer, I just rinse with water and dry upside down. Then before bottling again I just give it a couple pumps with the star San injector, and I'm good to go. No long pbw soaks or anything. I've used the same bottles over at least ten times and never had a...

Thinking about trying my first Lager....

When you make a starter with lager yeast, do you have to keep it at lager temp? Also, does it take longer than an ale starter?

    Homegrown hops no smell?

Yesterday I brewed for the first time with my own homegrown chinook hops, I picked them about a week ago, and I thought I was too late because some cones were already turning brown. I almost didn't use them because they did not smell a whole lot, but after putting them in a hop bag and squeezing...
