I think it really depends on how much you're willing to invest into brewing. I like to think of keg's as the gateway between a part time hobby and something you're really serious about. If you're going to try and sell your batches, or you have some free money to spend I would say go for the keg...

Hey man I just started making my own brews too (about 5 months ago). Keep going at it and you'll eventually find out what works and what doesn't. Best of luck to you!!!
