Getting a job at a brewery

Everyone is being positive, but I'm going to be the voice of reason. You're 28 years old, you really need to try to increase your income potential at this point in your life, not decrease it. In fact, I hope you have a sizable retirement savings -- Compound interest is the most powerful force in...

    Direct mount ball lock tap

I've got 10 650ss flow control faucets with the Chicocompany adapters and they work pretty well. In addition to being able to pull samples of aging beers, I ferment in 10 gallon cornys and can pull hydrometer samples using the tap....and I've been known to drink a pint or four directly from...

    Having trouble with my hefs

Wyeast 3068, with a ferulic acid rest gives me a balanced clove to banana aroma (I just checked my log) book at 65 F. Next time I'm going to 68 F to see If I can accentuate the banana esters more.

    Having trouble with my hefs

Ferulic acid rest, slight under pitch of yeast, and ferment a few degrees warmer, or near the upper temp recommendation for more banana.

How do I sanitize this keg jumper hose?

...or if you have a spare empty keg an even better choice is to fill the keg you're going to use with starsan and push it to the free keg to sanitize the hose and purge the keg.

Unscrew the top of the disconnect and remove the poppets and springs.

    Picnic vs Standard Metal Faucet

I get good enough pulls when I dial the flow back. Much better than the foamy pours with a cobra faucet at full pressure.

    Picnic vs Standard Metal Faucet

I'm going to make a completely different recommendation. I hate cobra taps, hate them, hate them, hate them. I'm always spilling beer when using them in a crowded fridge or chest freezer. I recently switched to Perlick flow control faucets in my chest freezer that I use for aging kegs...I only...

Please post your results once you try this! That would push me over the edge into getting one if I could filter and use it to carb...

How Long do YOU Ferment in primary?

I let the fermentation dictate when I keg, but most of my ales will finish out in 3-5 days, then I do a diacetyl rest for a 3-4 days, then fine with gelatin and cold crash. After that, they get a closed transfer to a keg. On average, they stay in the fermentor for about two weeks. Oftentimes...

Leaning towards the GF but let me know if i'm missing something

I've brewed on systems that range from 2.5 gallons to 30 barrels. I do not regret my Grainfather purchase at all. If it had been available 20 years ago I would have foregone the cooler mash tun + keg kettle and then the 15 gallon three vessel RIMS, and just gotten the Grainfather instead. If...

What's the oldest yeast you've used?

I make a 4 liter starter, cold crash it, decant, and then step it up with another 4 liters. I then cold crash it again, decant, and divide out the slurry into 5 jars to have 5 healthy starters for future use and pitch the remainder into my fermentor (I'll use these starters up to a year or more...
