    Quantity vs quality

Hey everyone. Tons of great insight in this conversation!! Just wanted to toss in a few clarifying points in regard to my original post. I am pretty easy going in regard to beers. I don't expect a beer to be the "best ever" each and every time. I will drink darn near anything if it's halfway...

Yes to all of this! I have been sick of disgusting IPA's for years now. This area is oversaturated with them big time!! Glad i am not alone in my disenchantment...

    Quantity vs quality

Sorry, i have really been taking issue with the term "craft beer" lately. It reminds me too much of man buns, hipsters, pumpkin spice and ironic trucker hats...you get the idea. It's my own ridiculous issue...i will get therapy for it 😛

    Quantity vs quality

Ok...so maybe it's just me...maybe it's the area I'm in (washington state)...but we have a crapload of microbreweries popping up like mushrooms. In general I think this is good...I love variety. As I explore some of these new places I am noticing the beer is often unremarkable (yep...tastes...

Well...after reading that tale of bureaucratic nighmares. ..maybe i am better off selling plastic solo cups at a kegger in the park in the middle of the night. 😞 I will keep doing my homework. Maybe Washington state isn't as bad as Massachusetts....

Thanks guys. So, to give a clearer picture of what i have in mind... Renting a small storefront, being open 2 or 3 days a week (to start), keeping my day job. Offering coffee, tea, beer (some of it mine, a few other local offerings), wine (local). Some pinball machines (another hobby of mine)...

Hi everyone! First, please forgive me if this is in the wrong forum. I am looking for input.... My soul-sucking job has kept me away from brewing (and other fun things) for too long. I am trying to find a path to my dream job...working for myself in my own shop with (among other things) my...

    Mini Fridge Ferm Chamber question

OK, so I got a mini fridge to use as a fermentation chamber (using it with an ST-1000 temp controller). I did a little surgery to the hump....unbolted the compressor, moved it back, then notched out the hump (about 12" wide x 4" deep). I built a partial box out of some roofing flashing and...

    Fridge Keezer???

Got someone to sell me a fridge!! Had the option of an old, beat up one for free....or a newer, cleaner one for $75. I went the $75 route and my gut tells me that was the right move. Today is a success! Gonna get this baby home and LET IT SIT UPRIGHT for a good long while BEFORE I plug it in ;)

    Fridge Keezer???

OK, great news! Hopefully the people selling fridges will have more follow-though than the freezer folks. Nobody will take my money, it seems..... :(

    Fridge Keezer???

I am having major keezer frustrations!! Bought an upright freezer on Craigslist, hauled it home, ran fine for a week and died. TOTALLY MY FAULT! **cautionary tale here! let that fridge/freezer stand upright for a good long while before plugging it in. no joke!** So, I am looking for another...

    What kind of hops?

So, I got a little carried away picking all these hops. I got started and just couldn't stop til I ran out of hops. Filled a little 2 gallon bucket 1 1/2 times. Popped out a couple window screens and spread all my hops out on them and left a fan running on them for 24 hours. The all dried...

    What kind of hops?

Good to know! I have zero experience with home grown hops, so wasn't sure how to approach it. I am amazed at how big some of these are!! They smell rather floral and citrus'y. I should probably look into getting one of those vacuum sealer food saver things. Thanks Chris

    What kind of hops?

Good idea! Maybe just a 1 gallon extract batch.... I'll give it a try. Thanks! Chris
