    Keg issues

I am very new to kegging and I bought 4 used 5gal ball lock kegs and two fo them are fine but two of them I am having issues with the gas stem. The first it seems to hiss like it is leaking when the gas line is hooked up. The same gas line works fine on other kegs no hiss. And when I...

    Backsweetening wit FAJC

Ok I finally got a kegerator built and am starting to keg instead of bottle. I want to try to back sweeten using (thawed) frozen apple juice concentrate instead of splenda. I am going to bring it down to fridge temperature before adding in the FAJC so fermentation doesn't start back up. The...

    Carboy question

Just so I am clear on what your asking, you are going from a 5 gallon to a 6 gallon and after the initial fermentation you have about 4.5 gals of cider. I have only been doing this for a year but from what I have heard on here is especially on the 2nd rack/aging you want as little head space...

    Back-sweetening and kegging?

Thanks for the advise and that answer will suffice, if there is not another way to go about back sweetening. I was hoping to find a way to do it as I keg it or in the in between step (open to others thoughts on this too still). How do you back sweeten with honey? It is kind of thick so I...

    Back-sweetening and kegging?

I dont have the space to be able to put the extra kegs in a fridge right now. I have the ability to let it sit at room temperature. I dont mind using honey or concentrate I just have to find a way to kill the yeast first, so I was going to orginally put the 5 gallons on the stove and heat to...

    Back-sweetening and kegging?

I have been using splenda to back sweeten my ciders up to this point. I dont mind it but I have had a few people say it has that artificial sweetner after taste. I recently built a kegerator and want to know can I pasteurize and then use regular sugar to back sweeten since the kegerator will...

    Too Sweet

Using yeast will not do very much since I use Splenda to back sweeten and it was a little sweet when I back sweetened and bottled but as it aged it became overly sweet.

    Too Sweet

Ok I brewed and bottled a batch of cider that is way to sweet. I don't want to just dump it out but no body will drink it in my family. So I am looking for options of things to do with it. First option I thought of is use it as headspace filler and just sweeten less then I would like it...

    Beer bottle stoppers

I recently made some Ice Cider and I bottled it in 22oz bottles since i don't have wine bottles or a corker. I don't plan on drinking a whole bottle in a single sitting so I am looking to find something that I can recap the bottle with so that it can be enjoyed at a few different sittings...

    Time before racking

Ok, sorry if the title is confusing wasn't sure how to word it. I have a 5 gallon batch that is done fermenting...unfortunately due to life circumstance I may not get to be able to rack it into another carboy for a few days. This wont hurt it if I leave it sealed with an airlock in the carboy...

backsweeten but don't want to use artificial

I was considering this route until I found out this stuff is poisonous to dogs. So I decided it against it on the chance a cider could be *Gawd forbid* spilled near my pooch

Hard apple cider tastes like passion fruit

Nothing really to add but I just recently started a cider with 20% dragon fruit/passion fruit juice. It smells awesome while it is fermenting. I am hoping the end product with taste as good as it smells.
