Just heard a small tidbit on the news..

most bars over charge for their watered down drinks anyhow. I think they should consider legalizing marijuana (they could regulate it, and it is our nations #1 cash crop already) and drug testing people before they hand out welfare checks. That should pretty much take care of the monetary...

    Pint glasses

My pint glasses got ran through the dishwasher. Fingerprints show up on them really easy so I know there is a film on them. Is there a way to remove it? I read that it can kill head retention so I was curious.

    My First (Good) Homebrew...

Luckily my SWMBO is pushing me to start kegging so this will be the last batch of bottles... and these wont last...

Should I still have krausen at this point?

I just brewed it this weekend and the krausen came and went in a little less than 4 days. The temp was at about 65 in the room. But like Revvy said, every batch is different.

I finally got to taste a good homebrew..

AND IT WAS MINE!!! I bottled my Fat Tire clone on Saturday and I just couldnt resist giving it a try tonight, especially since my Hefe turned out..... not bueno. After 4 days in the bottle it tastes delicious, carbonation is really close to perfect, and the head even stayed with it all the way...

Did my chocolate stout lose its chocolate?

I brewed up the AHS Double Chocolate Stout this weekend. Fermentation just calmed down enoughto take the blow-off tube off and pop in the airlock. The bucket that the drain end of the blow-off was in had quite a bit of sediment that tasted like cocoa powder. Have I lost the Cocoa flavor? The...

    Ice?

I bought some freez-pops from walmart and have used them in a sink full of water to cool my wort. I just brewed yesterday and used the same freez-pops I have had for 2 months. I throw the freez-pops in the bottom of the sink filled with water, then I drop the pot of wort in there, then put ice...

My drunken mind has found yet another fantastic question

First of all I am very jealous that you're in Austin. GO HORNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Second, has this ever happened to you? Would it affect bottling?

    Worts smell the same

I wouldnt worry at all. You cant smell bitter. Also you are looking more for a good rolling boil than a vigorous boil. I wouldnt worry at all. When you take your gravity samples taste each one and I guarantee you will taste a difference. If I am wrong on any of this someone will correct me but...

My drunken mind has found yet another fantastic question

Is it possible to over fill your airlock (3 piece) so that your beer begins to carbonate in the fermenter? It seems that if you were fermenting in a 7 gallon bucket and had 5 gal of beer, then after initial fermentation there wouldnt be enough pressure inside the vessel to blow the top off the...

Three quick questions before I start tomorrow

1: Before I bottle should I stir the priming sugar into the beer or is the swirl from siphoning into the bottling bucket sufficient? 2: I am brewing a Double Chocolate Stout but all I have left for primary is a 5gal carboy. Will this be ok with a blowoff tube? 3: I have some Rogue Dead...

    Rouse yeast before bottling?

Dont get me wrong, I wasnt expecting it to be ready. But from everything I have read I should have something. I know it wont be dissolved into the beer yet. I must admit it was a bummer to get absolutely nothing. Good thing I have another batch ready to bottle in 2 days.
