    Wormwood

I see that Austin Homebrew claims to have the REAL Wormwood. I was just contemplating getting some and using it in a beer. I understand though that wormwood is very bitter so I was thinking about using no Hops or very little Hops and make the wormwood be the major bittering component. My...

    No Head

Thanks everyone for your imput. Replying to a few posts back. This is the first none Stout I have brewed with this system. All of my stouts have had brilliant heads. There is 12 lbs of grain in my recipe out of which, 3 lbs are Caramel malts so I figured I would be fine on head retention...

    No Head

I brewed the best beer I have ever made back in September. I am living in the UK right now temp. so I have been letting it age while I was away. I figured it was ready so I had a family member send me a few by post. I have to say, it is just great! If I had to critisize it though, It would...

    My new label

I have just created my best beer ever!!!! It is my own recipe ESB. It was so good that I just had to make a label for it and give it a name (even though I suck at this art stuff). I had to leave it in the States when I moved to England but I have it looked away in my storage ben to which only...

2nd All Grain Batch, Bacteria or No Bacteria

No little fizzys on the top but like I said, the top is covered with a thick layer of foam now. It started foaming up the same day I started noticing activity in the air lock. As for the high fermentation temps, I have the carboy in the coolest room in my house, it a small bath room that is...

2nd All Grain Batch, Bacteria or No Bacteria

Edwort, When I checked my OG, I assumed my Hydrometer was off or something. According to Beersmith, with 75% efficency, my beer should have had an OG of 1.067. But when I took my hydrometer reading, it said the OG was 1.093. I checked to make sure there was no bubbles and even checked it...

2nd All Grain Batch, Bacteria or No Bacteria

Well, this yeast that I used is White Labs, plus it is a Platnium Series yeast and is only availble January and Feburary of the Year. This Experation on the Yeast vile was May 2007. I bought this yeast back in April (as I have been wanting to use it for awile) so it was out of date which is...

2nd All Grain Batch, Bacteria or No Bacteria

On the 4th, I did my second ever All grain batch. The Mashing and Sparging went a good as I could have hoped for and the same can be said for the boil. I was using liquid yeast for the first time. I made my yeast starter the night before. When I woke up the next morning, there was not...

I am on 9 right now. I will be moving to the UK temp. coming up in October and I am not going to take any of my brewing equipment with me so I am holding off adding to my setup until I get back. Nee help with my logo/label

Ok, here is my situation. Since High school, I have had this friend that has a gift for art. He has always been good at both drawing and computer graphics and everytime I had a project due in High School or College, he has always done the graphics for me. Now, he is trying to get accepted to...

    Are you a Hop Head?

I have to say I am not. Every now and then, for a change I like to get a nice hoppy beer usually with a meal. I am actualy on the other side of the spectrum when it comes to the balance of a beer. I like really malty almost sweet beers like Spaten Optimator. ummmm Optimator :)

    Brown Bottles vs Cobalt Bottles.

Thanks I always store my beer in a dark place anyway but was just curious. I like the old look of the Cobalt Bottles and I think I will get some of those for my latest batch.

    Brown Bottles vs Cobalt Bottles.

I have read the arguments against the clear beer bottles and the green ones and how the clear and green bottles are the main culprits for the skunkiness of some Coronias and Heinikans. But I have never seen the blue Cobalt bottles mentioned in any of this. I love old things and a lot of the...

    Austin Homebrew and Hoptech

I was kind of upset about how long both Hoptech and AHB took to ship my order but, the big thing that made me mad with AHB was the fact that they charged my credit card the day after I placed the order and did not ship it till four days later. Maybe it is just me but I think that the card...
