Anyone familiar with the Orifices Sabco uses?

So I figure it's a long shot, but I've seen some good answers on this forum so why not go for it. I've recently come into possession of Sabco's V350 Brew Magic system. Sadly it is set up for natural gas which I have none of, but conveniently I have a 30lb propane tank. I'm no expert when it...

3 year old bag of grain. Opinons

Yeah, the DP was mostly what I was concerned with. I guess the only true way to know if its stale will be to buy and test. I would open the bag and try the grain, but i'm not sure how my manager would respond if I decided not to buy haha. Thankfully Muntons does a good job of packaging their...

3 year old bag of grain. Opinons

Alright guys, I have an interesting question for ya. One I've never run into myself in my time working at the LHBS. In front of me sits a 3 year old bag of Mild malt. un-milled, no bugs, just been on the shelves for some time. I'm tempted to buy it at a discount, but I'd like to make sure i'm...

    Beer served at 26 degrees

So my browser took a bit to load the image... When I read your post, first thought was "what the **** is this guy thinking? There's only one type of beer that needs that kind of temperature, and they are words we do not speak." Then the pictured loaded (albeit about 20 seconds later while my...

Does Melanoidin Malt add fermentable sugar?

From my experience, I have never found Melanoidin malt to add anything too noteworthy in terms of fermentables (at least if your using it in the recommended amounts). I'd say something similar to that of Crystal Malt. It's more so for Flavor and Color, but will add something if you're mashing...

    Newbie first recipe

Personally I think the recipe looks good. Originally I was going to say add rice hulls (before it fully occurred to me this was BIAB XD), so no need for those :cross:. I do agree upping the dry hop to an ounce seems like it would be good though. My own personal opinion also, but I think WLP051...

    Hey all from Texas

Haha then I would not doubt it. I tend to be one of the regular guys there, so we probably have met. I'll just have to keep my eye open for a Homebrewtalk shirt. If you ever see a guy behind the counter wearing (and I do wear this from time to time) a shirt that says "Out of beer, Life is Crap"...

    Hey all from Texas

Glad to see all these TX brewers here:mug: I work at Home Brew Party on Nacodoches. I'll be moving to the Bandera location to take over the Management position near mid January, though I'll still work Naco a few days out of the week so you can catch me at either location :D

    Brewing with Molasses

I have actually not seen that chart (Or I just don't remember when I read that book :o), but that is quite handy. Thanks BridgewaterBrewer. I have thought about using Cane Syrup, but i'm not sure i'll get the same exact characteristics i'm after. Guess I'll have to throw caution to the wind...

    Brewing with Molasses

I have heard that using a higher end brand tends to help avoid the metallic flavor cheaper molasses can give. Sadly I can not say from experience haha.

    Hey all from Texas

Hey everyone, I just want to introduce myself. I've been a viewer of this site for some time, and finally decided to make an account. I'm from Texas, near San Antonio and work/manage my LHBS. I consider myself to have a decent knowledge of brewing (Even though I've only been at this for about a...

    Brewing with Molasses

Hey all of you lovely brew people out there, I've got a question for ya. I've had an idea for a beer floating around in my head, using Molasses to give a sweet, even Rum like character to the brew. Sadly I personally have never used molasses for brewing, and have seen people from one extreme to...
