A buddy of mine took one of those metal buckets from a spent citronella candle and hangs it off the tap.

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

It's so gratifying to stand in the garage and watch it kick on the fridge. Just brewed up a milk stout to test it out. Finished controller:

Now, to finish the box and close it up. You'll have to forgive the colors of the wires. I was using scrap.

    How To: BrewPi LCD Add-On

I've gone back and forth about doing something like this. It's really cool, but my fermentation chamber is in my garage so it's just not that useful for me. Which sucks, because I love finding any excuse I can to tinker with electronics.

What problems were you having? Did it not see them at all or were they just not registering temps?

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Yeah, I ended up wiping and reprogramming the arduino because I had some oddities in my device list. All is good now, thanks!

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

This is more of a do it yourself solution. The first post has links to all the parts you'll need. Being handy with a soldering iron helps but isn't strictly necessary. You will need to be comfortable with messing with electricity because you'll need to wire up an outlet. None of it is...

Any advice on difficulties with getting both probes to read? I've tried the other 4, I can still only get one reading for some reason. The arduino sees it, but the value is reading null.

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Thanks to this thread I just completed my setup. I'm having an issue getting one of my temp probes to read. Otherwise it's pretty spiffy, I just need to finish putting the box together so it isn't a fire hazard. I bought a 5 pack of the temp probes so I'm going to try swapping them out once I...

    Brewing and your Kids

I look at it this way. When I was a kid my mom and her husband drank. They never drank to excess in front of me (at least not until I was old enough to know they were being stupid). But they did drink often enough to take the stigma out if it for me. When I got older they let me drink as...

    Thought I'd finally say hello

While I get the point you're making, it's a tad pedantic and condescending. Everyone I know breaks APA's and IPA's out of regular ales. Yeah, I understand that the A on the end there stands for ale. Just as you, hopefully, were able to understand when I said "I tend to stick with ales because...

    Brewday 11-23-2014

Maybe this is what I'm not doing right. I always seem to run out of beer before I try brewing the next batch. I need to plan better. And/or get more kegs/fermenters.

    Thought I'd finally say hello

I currently have a Gingerbread Ale slow carbing in a keg. I tend to stick with ales because I'm not a huge fan of hoppy beers... and it's about the only thing the wife will also drink (she's more of a liquor kind of girl). I may attempt a stout next, but I'm also looking at making the jump...
