Thoughts and suggestions on first IPA extract recipe?

I would ditch the C40 and use Vienna unless you want your beer more orange and malty. Consider splitting your Warrior addition to .5oz at different intervals (like 60 and 30).

Anova Immersion Water Heater and Kettle Souring

I am currently using it to hold my sour wort at 110 for the next three days. I went a different route. Did all of my mash and day 1 boil. Moved to my keggle. I have the anova pumping water from a cooler through my immersion coil in my wort. I use this for cooking all the time so I don't want it...

    Opinion on Mash Tun Build

The only reason I was considering both was to protect the SS braid from collapsing with all of that grain on it. Though it hasn't been an issue when I've done big batches in my igloo...

    Opinion on Mash Tun Build

I have a SS colander I was going to combine with a SS braid to move over to a keggle MLT from my current 10 gal igloo set up. The colander shown is 6"or so deep from the bottom, with port access at the top (i could come in from the side if necessary. Am I just creating too much dead space in the...

    Wort Chilling Closed Loop System

I'm in socal here as well. I have a 600gph pump that I put in a bucket with ice and bit of water and attach to a counterflow chiller and recirculate the water. I usually let the wort drop to 180° after a whirlpool just to let some trub fall out. I need about 25lbs of ice for a 10g batch and half...

    Yeasty bite after kegging IPA

Well a few weeks later and this beer is still off... in the same way. Currently just blending it with one of my other beers to drain it...

Haven't seen anything since they stopped taking feature requests in May. Site is stale. Anyone have any news?

    Yeasty bite after kegging IPA

I'm not sure, especially after it has faded and bit and considering it appeared after carbing.

    Yeasty bite after kegging IPA

Thanks all for the feedback. I use whirlfloc in the boil and on this batch, i did a gelatin fining. I've poured quite a few beers, giving a few days rest in between and have not noticed a dramatic change since the first real pour after the gelatin. The beer has gotten "better" but I've lost all...

    Yeasty bite after kegging IPA

So this is the second time this has happened. Background: All grain recipe, both with WLP001 using a fast ferment. 3 week fermentation. After pulling the first bit of trub, I let it continue to roll for another ten days. Fermentation finished around 1.08, OG was 1.062. Sample tasted great...

    Slight oil film a problem?

Did you use starsan on the bottling bucket? Is there a chance it's just residue from that?

    Wash or dump?

I'm a new graduate from extract to AG and 4 days ago kegged my first three batches. One batch, I purchased a smack pack and was interested in harvesting the yeast. Work/life got in the way and I'll finally get a chance to try to "wash" it tonight. After I kegged it, I put a sanitized airlock...

    Haier 7.1 Keezer Build

Just about done with my project so I thought I'd share. So much great help in this forum. I started with a craigslist freezer for $85 and then bought new from there. I'll try not to bore anyone with all of the build details but it's worked really solid from the get go. The initial three taps and...

Shank thru keezer collar and pink foamboard insulation; backing plate for lock nut?

I found using a extra piece of wood behind the insulation helped secure/stabilize the shanks and keep the foamboard from being chewed up. I did it on the back side as well to attach the gas manifolds.

    Dual-Tap Kegerator Build Under Way

Check the relief valve on the top of the keg lid. I lost 1/2 a tank to that. Spray starsan or something on all your fittings, the problem areas will bubble.
