    wilserbrewer BIAB bags

I haven't used my Wisler bag yet but i'm wondering if I might want to add just a wee more hops than the recipe calls for to get close to profile due to the bag preventing the last bit to enter the wort?

Cold Crash - Fridge, Freezer.... Mini Fridge?

I have a mini fridge and just finished a cold crash on the 27 of Dec. the controller was set at 34 deg. and when I went to bottle my top LBK had ice in it(it sets just below the freezer compartment) so It can and will get cold enough.

    What to do with solids?

Don't know when you brewed this but most will continue to settle out, at the end of fermentation if you still have floats cold crash in fridge (somewhere @ 32-40 deg.) this should make the rest settle out. If not rack from under it'll be ok.

WANTED: A nice home brewery in LA for shooting a commercial

I live in Northeast Oklahoma so location isn't that good. I do have a shiny brew room and has all the flash that you could ever want, but when I wake in the morning it's still the same old bedroom with the mini fridge. :(

Will this pot work for BIAB?

Now that I see the pot I would recommend a taller one.

Does anyone else ignore their water?

I haven't done anything with my water yet. The next batch I do I'll be running my water through a RV filter and letting it set over night to remove the chlorine then testing and adjusting the PH for the mash. Note: filter says it will remove chlorine, not sure but will check it out.

Will this pot work for BIAB?

Many threads about this. I'm not into metric so all I'll say is if you have a pot that will hold enough water plus grains you are fine, as for the bag if you can't find a bag make one to fit the kettle. After mash, sparuge to pre-boil level and you are set. Continue to scan threads to see how...

I don' recirc my water to bring to strike temp. but I do start somewhere close and I know it doesn't take and hour to get up to temp.

    Help!!!

One recommendation would be to make sure that your wort temp. is close to your fermentation temp. this would prevent a vacuum form forming in the fermenter and sucking the star-san into it. Best of luck. :)

What did I do to my first brew?

Sorry about your mishap. First thing I would recommend that you do is read about making beer from grains, it seems you may be lacking in the some areas of water to grain ratio and water absortion , also if you are going to do a all grain beer I would recommend a beer making program it would help...

My first 2 batches only yielded 40 bottles?

As mentioned most of us that has brewed for awhile, figure in for kettle loss and trub loss for fermentation but depending your brew even those that try to figure trub for fermentation it won't always work out that way. I gotten a heavy amount of loss and not so heavy amount from trub. Some...

    55 too cold to ferment?

Are you using a hydrometer to check when fermentation is completed? If not let it ferment for 3 weeks (21 days) before bottling. After bottling wait 4 weeks at room temp. then place in fridge for 3 days before trying. I recommend this for all New Brewers if they don't have all the brewing...
