Persistent bitterness issue - unsolvable, help required! :(

Thanks to all, you are great - was definitely helpful so far! Good point, I was already thinking on to skip the 60m boil. Thanks for the hint with the hop utilization setting in Beersmith, great one as I've not yet changed/checked this setting so far! By default it is set to 50% for 90C/194F...

Persistent bitterness issue - unsolvable, help required! :(

Hey All, This topic can be seen as the continuation of my earlier post - Yeast bite - why? Encountering the very same issue again and again when trying to create a 'hazy IPA'. This time I'm trying to be as detailed as possible since I'm desperate, this is an issue I can not resolve / nor...

    Yeast bite - why?

Thanks to all for the comments! First trial was 1318 the 2nd one was the Sigmund's Voss Kveik from theyeastbay. The majority of you says this has nothing to do with the yeast but the tiny hop particles. In this case how should I play it next time? Shall I cold crash for longer period(e.g. over...

    Yeast bite - why?

I'm trying to brew a NE(ish) IPA with double dry hops, one at high krausen and another dosage few days before cold crash and bottle. Out of the 2 trials: Both beers resulted in a unpleasant bitterness though the hop aroma is perfect. I've used +10% wheat malt and +10%oat flakes to ensure...

BrewDog Brewing releases entire recipe catalog

Checked the pdf and it looks awesome, tons of experience and working combinations. Although I've recognized that a lot of recipe mentions ph level below 5.0. Why is that? I'm confused... :)

Dry Hopping + adding sugar? 120gal/450litre

Thanks for the feedback to all! I indeed found some articles confirming this method may be valid as well due to the above listed reasons. I always tend to forget that brewing is not black and white.

Dry Hopping + adding sugar? 120gal/450litre

Ok, so I believe they are basically let the wort completely ferment out and than add a small dose of sugar to better extract the hop aroma. So, it isn't the best to wait till the beer reaches a stable FG & settling out well before dry hopping? confused

Dry Hopping + adding sugar? 120gal/450litre

I've got the possibility to brew one of my beers in a local small craft brewery. Upon discussing the steps with one of the workers I've got the advice to add a small amount of table sugar with the dry hops to have a better extract of the oils. The point they claim is that the additional sugar...

C-Rider, that's just sounds way too good! :) Do you add the whole amount of water required for pre-boil volume to the mash?

Full volume mash / Insulated mash tun -

Hi All, I'm started to AG homebrew ~4 years ago doing fly or batch sparge all the times. Now I want to try something different and looking forward to full volume mash / no sparge method - read already a lot about this topic (efficiency decrease, fuller malt flavor etcetc) but still not...

Stout - Forgot to add oats - Pls advise

Hi, Just brewing a light weight stout with some Simcoe dry hop. Target og was 1.055 but forgot to add the 14% oat... So my og stopped around 1.047 and probably I'll miss the creaminess and silkiness as well. Too bad. I've not yet started the boiling and plan to delay it until tomorrow...

Opinions required about hop mixture (Mosaic + Citra)

Truly apologies for the delay with my answer...! This batch turned out to be infected..shame on me. On the other hand in the meantime I've tried some combinations. Citra + Mosaic seems to blend well together but I prefer to add Simcoe (prefer this) or Chinook in the same time to balance the...

Opinions required about hop mixture (Mosaic + Citra)

Hi All, I'm planning to have a relatively 'aromatic' amber ale achieved with dry hopping. Planning to add Mosaic & Citra for a week after the 1st week of fermentation is done. I'm aiming to have somewhat unique aroma coming from the combination of these 2 hops but I'm not sure a about the...
