Anyone interested in trading hops seeds? I've got some El Dorado cross seeds...

I have both male and female seedlings from my El Dorado seeds so I'm hoping that I'll have El Dorado cross x El Dorado cross seeds this year...

True... It might not be that 19058m is any better than other males. Maybe it's just that hopsteiner used it frequently.

But, it might make your life easier if you just start with one good quality male so you know for certain who pollinated all your hops...

For a while it seemed like every new aroma hop being released had 19058m in the pedigree - Bravo, Calypso, Denali, Lemon drop, Eureka, Summit etc. so I figured if I ever got serious about breeding I'd start there. However, I think there has been some recent success with using neomexicanus males...

Any updates? How are these hops? Flavor? Aroma? I can't find much info about them...

That's an impressive number of hops! I do know there are some male hops available from universities in the states. Another member on here bought a USDA 19058m which seems to be the go-to-male for breeding a lot of the new IPA-type hops. It seems to impart some mildew resistance, high...

And, to get this thread back on track... There are some monks in New Mexico that sell Amalia, Chama, Latir, Mintras, and Tierra. They're hard to track down, but seem to be available in small quantities. Sorry for the hijack.

They're still little so I'm not going to take any cuttings at this point, but good point about the watering... I hadn't thought about that. I live in a desert, but have been watering quite a bit to keep them alive...

Yes, El Dorado definitely looks like it has Neo Mexicanus in it. I found some seeds in some hops that I'm growing out and the leaves of a few plants look almost exactly like my Neo 1's. Some leaves are golden colored - totally different than my Centennials. It almost looks like a nutrient...

USDA has released a few cultivars to commercial growers... Most of them are reportedly high yielders and fairly disease resistant. NortheastPlants (dotca) has write ups on the cultivars. At this point, there's only one named variety - Triumph

Lots of Amalia crosses... It's a neomexicanus that you don't hear much about. What are your thoughts on the plant? Production? Flavour? Etc?

I have no idea. There may also be someone on the milk the funk fb page who is able to get you some. It does look like an interesting yeast.
