To Fridge.. Or not to Fridge.. That is the question..

Is it better for me to fridgerate all my bottles after 3 weeks of conditioning or should I just keep them at room temp and only fridgerate the bottles when I'm ready to drink them? I've heard a little bit of both sides but was just curious.

    First time bottling, fingers crossed!

Should I place my bottles in storage crates with lids?

    First time bottling, fingers crossed!

Thats about like I did. I just used the whole packet of 5 oz. priming sugar and my batch was b/w 4.5 to 5 gallons. I've got all my fingers (and toes) crossed!

    First time bottling, fingers crossed!

If the bottles were to burst, at what point would that happen? Or how many days before they were to burst.

    First time bottling, fingers crossed!

Does this look ok? Hope I did it right.

    First time bottling, fingers crossed!

Yeah, the beer in the glass was what was left over after bottling so I just kind of poured it straight out of the carboy.

    First time bottling, fingers crossed!

Bottling was successful! I'm just hoping that the priming sugar mixture got mixed evenly throughout the beer. I did put the mixture at the bottom of bottling bucket and let the racking tube make a whirlpool as the beer came out. Here's a picture if my amber ale. Tastes good, flat of course...

    Bottles & OxiClean

Amstel Light must really hate us then!

    Bottles & OxiClean

I have found that Amstel Light bottles have labels that are super glued (must be cause those labels aren't going anywhere). And I'm not sure if you've heard of them but Back Forty Brewing Company labels are tough too. Just tried soaking some of their Truck Stop Honey Brown Ale bottles and they...

    Bottles & OxiClean

For all those OxiClean users out there that delabel and clean their bottles with it. I'm about to be bottling for the first time and am currently looking at soaking my bottles I've been collecting to take off the labels and clean. How long do I need to soak them for? And I've been hearing...

    Bottling..."For the first time"

Oh ok. Thank you! Yeah it's been in for 2 weeks now. Fermenting for 1 week and settling for the past week. Thinking about trying to making some attempts to increase my ABV?

    Bottling..."For the first time"

And you can do this at any point, even if the beer as been settling in the fermenter for about a week? And what would be a good fermentable to add to my brew? And after adding more fermentables and yeast, it's ok to stir it in? Just worried about involving too much oxygen to my brew.

    Bottling..."For the first time"

How do you get higher ABV?

    Bottling..."For the first time"

Cool, so I won't need to buy any star San. I do have some B-brite left over from my starter kit that I can use to sanitize the bottling bucket and whatever doesn't go in the dishwasher. I have another quick question that's been worrying me. I started this batch, will be 2 weeks this Saturday...

    Bottling..."For the first time"

So when I use the Sanitize setting on my dishwasher, I won't need to put any sanitizer in? The dishwaher has it's own sanitizer? Or just uses really hot water. And I put the bottles upside down, correcto?

    Bottling..."For the first time"

Never mind, just looked it up on google. The airlock Rubbermaid cork thing, got it.

    Bottling..."For the first time"

    What's a bung?
  18. S

    Bottling..."For the first time"

Oh ok. What's the best way to get a sample from a glass carboy? By doing this will it risk my brew getting infected?
  19. S

    Bottling..."For the first time"

Should I take a hydrometer reading before I start bottling?
