    Hoppy Porter Critique

That’s right, thank you. Stout needs roasted barley whereas porter does not. Yet the lines are relatively blurred between the styles.

    Hoppy Porter Critique

Without roasted barley, it’s not really a porter. At least that’s my understanding. I have made a hopped up porter based on a BYO clone from The Kernel brewery in London (“Export India Porter”). Was very popular

Questions about Ward Labs Water results.

Thanks Silver. I’ve got same water as Kinggolf so that is a big help.

    Timing of oxygenating wort

Good point. Boiling it is basically just as easy as sanitizing, why not take any risk out of the equation? I will add that step

    Single Tier HERMS System

Pretty rad system. Even better how you got your friend’s welding class to do some of the work for you! Brew on brother -PCL

    Timing of oxygenating wort

I get what you’re all saying about the infection risk of the aquarium-style aeration. After doing it a year (20+ batches) have never had an issue. And I use pbw and sanitizer on the stone and tubing. Pure oxygen would be better but can only pick up so many toys. I know, excuses excuses lol...

    Timing of oxygenating wort

I had thought about setting something like this up, and you just sold me. Greatly appreciate the link to the pump!

    Timing of oxygenating wort

Had a question for you all regarding timing of oxygenating wort. I’ve read that oxygenating hot wort can be a problem. But how hot is “hot”? I only have the capability of cooling my wort to 90-100 degrees Fahrenheit. All grain batch cooled with an immersion wort chiller. So typically I...

    Idaho 7

Kegging on day 10 do you get a lot of yeast in your keg? I’m assuming for a hazy you don’t dry hop

    Idaho 7

Cool, I’m doing that soon then. Appreciate you posting it. And since I can’t readily get galaxy here that’s doubly good

    Idaho 7

Hop madness! Dig it. How would you describe it? Also how much rice hulls you use. I usually go one pound but that’s more oats than I’ve ever used

    Idaho 7

I like the Golden Promise. Adds a nice mellow sweetness that works to round out NEIPA.

    Idaho 7

I didn’t do SMASH but did single hop. Did not overpower, was great. 10 lb 2 row 2 lb Maris Otter 0.5 lb torrified wheat 0.5 lb flaked oats 1 oz Idaho 7 at 60 3 oz Idaho 7 at whirlpool 180 for 20 min 2 oz Idaho 7 DH x5 days OG 1.068, abv 7.1 IBU 74

    Idaho 7

Overall happy with Idaho 7 for bittering and flavor. Gave me a nice even bitterness and a ripe fruit with some dankness for flavor. Originally more pineapple but after a week mellowed to more ripe fruit. Everyone who had it liked it a lot. The dry hop didn’t add a whole lot. I might try next...

    Idaho 7

Did Idaho 7 ipa today. 2row and little Maris Otter Torrified wheat and flaked oats 1 oz Idaho 7 60 min 3 oz Idaho 7 at whirlpool Will dryhop 2 oz. Really wanted to let the hop shine and see what it brings

    Idaho 7

That sounds intriguing...you mind posting your recipe? I would totally make it. I had a Idaho 7 single hop ipa at Dark Sky Brewing that was really good ...it’s got me motivated to play with it

Also great advice. I will get working on this and get back to you. Seriously, this is a great forum and have learned so much over the years from you all. Thanks

    Grainfather!!

Thanks for advice. The pin port is clean but I have had to clean that before. I did notice some air bubbles in the line starting at the connector to the CFC, maybe seal is an issue. Will dig into that further. Greatly appreciate your response and all who have answered. I used to use my keg...

    Grainfather!!

Flow with recirc is great. I took ball out of valve so that won’t block up. For the CFC I let PBW sit in it for half hour then run it through with more PBW and then sanitizer. Not sure how much better I can clean it out and doesn’t seem like it’s blocked up.
