For Sale Complete electric 2-tier system, HERMS capable [Maine]

Complete, turn-key, 2-tier electric brewery for all-grain brewing. HERMS capable - I've brewed one batch since adding HERMS to it and it went surprisingly well. This is a low-tech, non-automated system, but it still works great. 2-tier stand made from industrial shelving - breaks down for...

Maine Blichmann Therminator, Thrumometer and Beer Gun

Therminator: Includes backflush hose, L-bracket, female-female adapter, NPT barb, manual (does not include quick-disconnects shown). I added a layer of PlastiDip to make it easier to grip without getting cut, but it can be peeled off if you want to bake it. I cleaned with a multiple soak &...

Can you vacuum degas wine in a Speidel?

Thinking about getting a couple of Speidel fermenters. I like to degas using my vacuum sealer and am wondering if people have tried that with their Speidels and had any luck. Better Bottles definitely don't work. Thanks, Jim

    Induction kettle reviews/suggestions wanted

The advent of the 3500w induction burners is accelerating my electric brewery plans, now with a lot less wiring and building. Might not be as much fun, but safer, faster, and easier. I brew 5g batches, but want 5g at the end going into the keg, so I usually boil 7+ gallons. Am therefore...

Exhaust hood idea: blue tarp & pvc. Thoughts?

So I have an idea for a hood build, wondering if anyone has tried anything like it. Use PVC & elbows to make the bottom frame as big as you need (square for one kettle, or rectangular to fit over 2-3). Install an inline vent fan into a square or rectangular piece of ply/mdf/etc, that...

Maine Trade feeler: My keggles for 10 gal brewpots

I have two keggles. One has a 1/2" ball valve and center dip tube, the other just had the top cut off. The outsides have been polished. I will be sticking with 5 gallon batches, so considering trading for smaller brewpots, in the 10g range. Hoping I can find someone who wants to up-size...

Can I splice into my dryer line?

My brewing space is at the far end of the basement from the electrical panel, but only a few feet from where the supply for the dryer runs upstairs. So conceptually I am imagining some sort of junction box with a switch that would route power to either the dryer or the spa panel (so my wife...

    Corker wanted

Trying my first batch of wine so looking for a corker. A step up from the most basic would be nice - something adjustable. Let me know what you got. Thanks, Jim Maine

WTB: false bottom for 10g Rubbermaid

Title says it all. Would also take a valve & bulkhead for it while I'm at it. Thanks, Jim

What to get for my third vessel?

My plan is to build an all-electric rig, something close to Kal's. I have two kegs and would like a third, but I'm cheap and in a corner of the world where kegs don't come by too often. I could get a 10 gal cooler easy enough. I also have a ~6.5 gal stainless pot from my turkey fryer set...

Got a dimpling tool lying around?

This may belong in the classified section, but figured more people who might have one would see it here. I have some kegs I want to put fittings into on my way to an electric set-up. With so many people having gone down the dimple & solder route, I'm hoping someone has their now-idle dimple...

    PEX for heat exchange?

Has anyone tried PEX as the coil in their heat exchanger? Cheaper, easier to bend, as easy to plumb, good to 200*. I know its thermal properties are nowhere near copper's, but if sitting in a few gallons of water, will the thermal mass outweigh the lack of conductivity? Would need to...

Why is my heatstick suddenly scorching wort/mash?

I made a heatstick and it had been working perfectly. 120v 1500W element. Used it to speed up my HLT and kettle temps, maintain a boil with minimal propane heat, and even heated up a mash. Then I brewed a rye beer, stuck it in the boil, and it scorched and ruined the batch. I then brewed...

    2nd Perlick 525ss group buy

Figured I'd start a thread to get a 2nd group buy organized. Hopefully ggoodman will give some advice on how to get the ball rolling with Perlick, maybe share who he talked to. Since there was going to be a month's delay, I think we can keep the ordering window open for a bit longer (no...

Pressure increasing all on its own?

Got a problem, looking for some help. Couldn't find a thread through search . . . I've kegged about 5 batches so far with no problems with my current rig. All were done at cellar temp. I just got a freezer and while waiting for my manifold, just put the CO2 tank in with the keg to get...

    Bottling some, kegging some?

So if I want to bottle part of a 5 gallon batch and put the rest in a keg, what's the best approach? - prime the whole batch or only the part going into bottles? - okay to only partially fill a cornie, or look for 3-gallon? - if I prime only part of the batch, is the amount of sugar needed...
