do yeast take any time off?

Like they say: A watched kettle never boils. Yeast must be the exact opposite. I think it is afraid of the dark.

What's been your single most beneficial homebrewing upgrade?

I have to say my Blichman burner. The turkey frier did't cut it. I brew simple BIAB and I don't need a lot of equipment.

    Marking Bottles Without Labels

Ya, the type that have pics for the season and stick to windows. That sounds like a great way to label your creation! Good idea.

    Marking Bottles Without Labels

I keg now, but I used to mark the caps as well. What I was doing for a while was sticking on plain paper labels with a jello mix. The labels stick well and wash off like a dream. I still use this method for wine labels. The color of the jello also bleeds through the label to give some nice...

What kind of fermentor are you using..

Jcpomp, I love it. it is a cheap alternative to a conical. There have been a couple reviews about poor feet but I find a little care reduces the wear. It is very easy to clean. The single valve is simple and cleans easy as well. If I needed another fermenter I would definately get another one.

    Question about Brew Kettle size

Go for the 15! I am a BIAB brewer and I have found with some high gravity brews I was close to a boil over with my 15 gal kettle. I am glad I didn't settle for the 10 gal. Also get the kettle with at least the ball valve. The thermometer is handy but not as necessary. Once you have this kettle...

    Bag type?

Wilser here as well. I was going to try to make my own, but ordered a wilser bag instead. So glad I did. Have lost count of the number of brews I have done with it.

HELP! Don’t know what is going on!

You can train a few but cut off the ones you don't want. They look as though they need nutes. Give them a light dose of 20-20-20 fetilizer for starters to help them out.

    Grain containers in canada

Sorry for the delay. I store these inside and being metal the small critters can't chew a hole in them like they did to my plastic ones.

Saying goodbye to my friend tomorrow.

    Grain containers in canada

I just got a couple of steel garbage bins. Works great! Home Hardware or Canadian Tire has them.

    Cleaning the Grain Mill

I also have never cleaned mine. Just a bang on the bucket and a quick palm wipe and I'm done.

    Etching volumes into boil pot

I just use a ruler. The software I use gives the exact measurement for the volume of water needed in my kettle.

    BIAB calculator

I have used Biabacus from Biabbrewer from the first batch of all grain until now and I have done over 40 brews to date. (At least I lost count at 40.lol). I will probably never use anything else. It gives you full control and is accurate down to the last drop of water used. Since using...
