Is copper immersion chiller turning my pool green?

3 of my neighbors have recently re-roofed their houses. That may have been the cause as well. It’s remarkable how balanced my pool water stays at all times. I don’t do anything to it but add a few pucks of chlorine to the floater.

Is copper immersion chiller turning my pool green?

I have a sand filter. I’ve actually changed the sand out of it twice (thinking that was the problem, it wasn’t) and replaced several parts of the pump and lines. I also have a great robot vacuum. He drives around and vacuums the pool. No brushing or vacuuming for me! Don’t think I’ll go the...

Is copper immersion chiller turning my pool green?

Agreed. Don’t think the copper immersion chiller was making the pool water green. After 3 years of frustration (and draining + filling the pool 3x) I finally figured out it was a high phosphate level. Don’t know what causes it. But- I add this stuff called phos-free (1 capful every week or so)...

Is copper immersion chiller turning my pool green?

Oh yeah and I got a phosphate test kit too. I recommend all pool owners get one.

Is copper immersion chiller turning my pool green?

After 3 years of being a very novice pool owner, and draining and refilling pool 3x, I finally got it down. The first time it turned green was a high cyanuric acid level. I don’t test my water often enough and only do so once it turns cloudy and/or green. Anyways every single time I’ve had...

How many gallons of BierMuncher's Centennial Blonde have been brewed?

I’ve brewed this recipe at least 8 times. Cost effective and great beer. So 10gal x 8 equals 80 gal here...

Wlp820 octoberfest to brew a lager?

Yup I kinda figured. Won’t win any awards, but I brew beer to drink. I’m sure I’ll be able to quaff down a lager made with octoberfest lager and it’ll be just fine.

    Adding Hibiscus?

I brew kombucha and always add hibiscus. I buy dried hibiscus flowers off eBay or amazon. They usually come from Mexico. Boil 1 cup of water, shut off flame. Add hibiscus flowers and let steep for 7 minutes. Strain liquid, discard flowers and add liquid to keg. Rack kombucha on top of liquid

Wlp820 octoberfest to brew a lager?

Got a big starter of wlp820 goin. Was gonna brew a marzen but at last minute I’m changing my mind cuz it’s so damn hot. Now I’m thinking of just making a German light lager. Anyone have experience using this yeast and making fizzy yellow beer with it?

    High Gravity Custom eBIAB System

I have a pretty beat up barley crusher. I have to run the grain bill through twice. Once at a pretty wide gap. Second time at a credit card width.

    High Gravity Custom eBIAB System

I ditched the stainless basket and bought another brewbag, one that was made for my 20 gal kettle. Left the controller on during mash so it rested right on coils, no prob. Pump running on low output and recirculated just fine. End result was 78% efficiency on my 10 gal batch. Couldn’t be happier.

eBIAB Controller--Wort Hog vs Electric Brewing Supply

Just curious. Is there a way to set the wort hog controller so it will come on automatically? It would be nice to wake up and have strike water ready.

    To recirculate or not- EBIAB

Lots of friends stop by. And it’s more like 5 gal every week and a half.

    High Gravity Custom eBIAB System

My mill is pretty beat up. I have to run it through twice. First gap is very wide. Second pass i set the gap at credit card width. I’ve used the same crush on my old setup, which was mashing in a igloo cooler. Efficiency was 72-78%. New setup with the single vessel BIAB system is around 67-68%...

    To recirculate or not- EBIAB

Ahahahahaaaa!! I’m the same way. Brew 10 gal every 2 weeks or so. Don’t really care about efficiency too much, I’m just used to getting better than 67% with BIAB. I finally broke down and bought an electric setup which I love!! And is waaaay easier than my old propane fired keggle. All i care...

    To recirculate or not- EBIAB

Thanks. I’m definitely not obsessed with efficiency either, I’m just used to a little better than 67% with BIAB. I ditched the basket and left bag sitting directly on coils. I did keep the heat on (didn’t scorch bag) during mash. And used loc line sparge arm to recirculate mash. Fun brew day and...

@JohnnyRotten what’s your efficiency like with your current method?

    High Gravity Custom eBIAB System

Latest brew day update- went great but efficiency still sucked. Ditched the basket and let the brewbag rest directly on heating coils. No scorching! Kept the worthog controller on the whole time with mash set to 150. Ditched the spray nozzle and used loc-line sparge attachment with pump on low...

    Why doesn’t everyone BIAB?

That’s awesome! She aughtta hold a bag o’grains no prob. I use scrap wood and pallets for a lot of home projects!

    To recirculate or not- EBIAB

Couldn’t agree more... I feel with 5-10 gal batch sizes, recirculating, pumps and all the bells and whistles aren’t always the answer. I batch sparged in an igloo cooler for 6 years... occasional stir and beer always came out great. Gonna try the loc line sparge and recirculating pump for a...
