    CO2 Leak at Top Handle

I recently turned the handle on my C02 tank to force carbonate a beer homebrew keg and I felt and heard gas coming out of the 5lb CO2 tank at the handle. I also noticed the plastic handle can loosely lift up and down maybe an 1/8” giving me the impression something is loose. I don’t know if I...

When and how do I steep

I am brewing a partial mash recipe tomorrow and I have read that it may be better to not mash my dark grains and steep them. My recipe is: 6.6 lbs. Amber Liquid Malt Extract 1 lb. Light Munich Grain 1/2 lb. Greman Dark Crystal 12 oz. Carafa Grain 2 oz. Hallertauer Hops (60 min.) 1 oz...

    Today's brew mistake

As I am typing this out, I am brewing a German black lager (partial mash). I was suppose to put the grains in 1 gal if cold water and then hear to 160 then remove from heat and sit covered for 60 min. Well I made the number one mistake and walked away to get other brew things ready. Came back...

    You may cringe

Now I realize I will get some harsh comments here, but I'm going to ask anyway. I home brew beer and keg my beer. My wife just bought me a new triple tower kegerator for my birthday. I want to have a tap of the wimpy American lager for her. To do this I need to have a six barrel along with...

    Octoberfest

I live in Florida and do not have a temperature controlled refrigerator. I have an Oktoberfest in the fermenter in a swamp bath at 60°F. I am using white labs San Francisco lager yeast which I was told to use since I do not have a temp controlled refrigerator. My question is when I keg the...

Kegged, now how long to wait?

I just kegged a German Pilsner last week Wednesday and placed it in the frig after kegging. I force carbonated it and broke down and tasted it last night. My thoughts are it tasted yeasty and wasn't all that great. I don't think I have an infection, but was thinking two possible things...

How long are the rods in a keg?

I heard wall paper trays are good to soak the Cory keg rods. I'm at the store now and they don't sell wall paper trays. I see 24 inch planter boxes. How long are the rods?

    Boil time

When a recipe says to boil for 30 min then add .....bla bla bla, does the 30 min include getting up to the boil or is it 30 min once boiling? Takes about 10 min to get to boil it seems.

Cost of partial mash vs all grain

I'm a partial mash brewer and wanted to know if there is greater savings in all grain brewing over partial mash. Seems like a little more time for all grain, but comes greater flexibility in beers. Wondering about cost. Thanks!

Dry hop draft beer post brewing?

Has anyone tried to pour draft beer into a bottle or growler, seal it and drink after some time later? Would need to possibly filter settled hops. Just curious. One day you may want a good hop aroma and another day not. Thanks

    Siphoning and getting croisin

When I siphon my beer out of my primary fermenter, I notice a faint draw of white into the siphon tub. It's pulling a faint cloud of croisin. I don't rack to a secondary as I'm trying to keep my labor simple. I do get greedy and tilt very gently the fermenter once and hold in that position to...

How soon do i need to chill my keg?

I am new to kegging and have two kegs in my outdoor frig with picnic taps. I want to brew another 5 gallon batch to build a backlog of beer. My refrigerator can't hold a third keg and I wanted to know how long I can keep it in the keg without refrigeration? I plan to force carbonate once it...
