    Shout out to Morebeer

Years ago i had a package marked as delivered, but I never found it. (I believe it was stolen). I called up MoreBeer, they quickly asked if I wanted a refund or replacement - I still wanted my order. They shipped a new order out almost immediately. I still order regularly from them, glad to...

Brewfather coupon codes? Thinking of switching from BeerSmith.

The only way I've been made aware of codes is through HomeBrewFinds.com.

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

Nope, I bought a small pump to use with it though. I chose not to use it on my first brew as I am not used to using one yet. Thanks for the warning. One reason I didn't use the pump since I am not well versed in priming/using yet. I may try something like 1.7 on my next mash and see if it...

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

Just completed my first batch on a Digiboil kettle with DigiMash upgrade. I used to use a 3 tier propane setup, and moving to the Digiboil I have never felt more in control of the brew day. I hit all the expected numbers using Brewfather software. I am excited to taste the results! It did...

Increasing carbonation in keg --> increasing line length?

Thanks for the feedback. The comments confirm what I was thinking. In the short term I have increased my pressure by 1-2 psi and can tell a difference in the carbonation level. Beers have poured well so far, but I have historically had intermittent foam problems even at my old setting. So, it...

Increasing carbonation in keg --> increasing line length?

Currently, my beer pours well most of the time. Proper head, decent carbonation, not too foamy. However, I feel my beer is typically little under-carbed to my liking. If I raise the regulator a couple PSI to get a little more carbonation, will I need to immediately replace and increase my...

How much do you pay for a CO2 tank? Refill?

My last refill was about $12 for a 20 lb tank and $15 for a 5 lb at Nexair. Not sure why the 5 lb was more expensive -- I would have figured price per pound would be higher, but not to that degree. Either way, I am happy with their pricing but I'll probably keep my focus on 20 lb refills.

    Pigs Ear Brown from NH

I recently received a can of this and was quickly reminded how much I love (and miss) this beer. Living in TN now, it is hard to come by. Looking for a recipe as well. I may just take a stab at it and see what happens. Been thinking of contacting the brewery for tips, will report back if I...

Igloo 7.1 cu ft red oak keezer build

How did you set your temperature controller in the collar. It looks like the controller is flush against the collar, but then you also have a project box or something on the other side to hold the wiring?

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

Brewed this for the first time about a month ago. Everything has seemed fine, but I took a sample today that measured in at 1.024 (about 50% attenuated). Could this be thrown off because of the Simply Limeade being added and not able to be fermented? It tastes pretty good, but don't know if I...

    Salted Caramel Porter Distaster

So what do you think changed that made it taste ok on the second round? Did you change yeast, too, or just the amount and time in the boil for the salt?

First batch done - inconsistency bottle-to-bottle

I had a beer that a fellow homebrew group member critiqued as "popcorny." I didn't pick it up, I need to try it again soon and see if I can taste it. His thought was that I might have under pitched my yeast. Enough yeast will clean that flavor out. As far as the inconsistency I had another...

Seal of Approval - Pumpkin Spice Ale

The only thing that jumps out at me is the amount of pumpkin pie spice. A little spice goes a long way, and I used 2 tsp total of spices in my last 5 gal batch, I would think .75 tsp in 1 gallon would be a little much? Just a thought though. If its too much, or too little, it's only a gallon...

Very first all grain is this a good kit for me?

Looking through the instructions I don't see anything that you couldn't handle for your 1st AG batch. Brew day is very similar to my first AG experience. As long as you have a brew kettle, a mash tun, and a way to heat sparge water you will be ok. It sounds like your sparge is going to be...

    some over carbonation in bottles

I have started experiencing this in my first AG porter. From talking in my Homebrew group, I think I am not cleaning the bottled well enough. Before my next batch I am going to clean with a bottle brush, rinse, and then hand sanitize with a vinator instead of the dishwasher routine. I am...

how much water to use ?

Topping off is how I have done all my extract kits before going to All-Grain. Since you have the room to boil over 5 gallons I would, that way all of your water is boiled and you get those benefits (sanitation, etc.). If you end up topping off, some of your your utilization may be slightly...

how much water to use ?

Is this an extract batch? If so you can do it either way - full boil volume or use water at the end and top off. My first extract kits were partial boils, about 3 gallons, then topped off to 5 in the bucket. Sounds like you have the ability to do a full boil so I would start with 6 to 7...

Wheat +Rye = IPA recipe critique

I'm a fan of this idea too. I recently had a Rye/Wheat beer, with a very mild amount of rye that I want to try to recreate. I won't be going as strong as an IPA, but the same idea you are talking about applies. I think it's a great mix of flavors. I'm interested to hear how yours turns out...
