    Beer won't hold it's gas??

The guy said bleed the gas off and let it sit for a while, I said I've still got plenty in the carboys and I'm gona let that sit. I collected more than the recipe stated, meaning I sparged for too long so I had a watery wort. It's actually turned out pretty well, was just a bit impatient, was...

    Beer won't hold it's gas??

Thought I would let everyone know, I never realised that you have to keep the co2 line connected all the time, I've now got a gas line through the side of my keggerator with a Y splitter on. Followed the link for force carbing and it works a treat, Cheers!!! Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Tilting false bottom

Hops blocked chill plate and couldn't get me hand in to sort it with the wort being a bit warm, it was only spoilt because I was 2 gal short and it was all the strong hoppy flavoured wort Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Tilting false bottom

I've done 3 batches now, added the extra water for the dead space which wasn't much now I've dropped the bottom. Never worried about the sparge water just the amount collected in the BK, it my OG spot on on the all 3 batches, wrecked the first coz a never put the hop filter in (tit), second 2...

    Tilting false bottom

I've done it now bud, done a brew on Friday but finished way off, 1042 instead of 1050, having trouble calculating how much boil off I'm getting in the BK, need to check out a few threads. I'll get there soon, must have got over the little teething problems now, cheers Sent from my iPhone...

    Tilting false bottom

I've been trying to get 20" domed bottom like yours but I'm struggling in the UK. I've managed to get mine down to 1/2" now, I had to notch the bottom for the 2 outlets then make copper caps (had no stainless) to cover the notches, made a right mess trying to solder them on, I know solder...

    Tilting false bottom

Makes sense that it won't fit properly, dip tube is the way forward, how much space do you reckon I should leave under the false bottom, was thinking 3/4" and have the dip tube 1/2", cheers for the help bud B Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Tilting false bottom

I'm starting another thread on this as I've got a thread on hear about my MLT being too wide and this problem came up. I've got 2" of 'dead space' under my false bottom, I'm using wort pumps to recirculate through my HLT coil. The problem is my grain to water ratio is not working to cover the...

    Mash Tun too wide

Just had a look, it's 1 3/4" to the top of my outlet, so I'd be louche to gain 1/4" unless I title the false bottom. Is the space under the FB classed as dead space even tho it's a recirculating system so the wort is getting pulled from the bottom and put back on the top? Cheers Sent from my...

    Mash Tun too wide

That's what I'm aiming to do, fill 2 corny kegs, ran shy twice he first and third batch, then the second batch a collected too much with over sparging and ended up with 4% weak bodied stout. Going to cut the legs down and see if I can get the grain bed covered, I'll let yous know how it goes...

    Mash Tun too wide

I've thought about the false bottom, I could probably cut 1/2" off the legs so the bottom sits on my outlet or even taper it so the furthest end away from my outlet is the lower, so it tilts, don't know if this would be ok? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Mash Tun too wide

Sorry, 10 gallon batch 17lb grain Mash with 5 gallon water and sparge with 8 gallon, I got this off a calculator then converted to kg and litres, British it's what I'm used to, cheers Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Mash Tun too wide

40 litre batch I use 8kg of grain and mash with 20 litres of water that's for the correct ratio but had to use 30 litres to cover the grain bed, then I sparge with 30-35 litres, I collected 47 litres for BK but only managed to collect 36 litres to the fermenter OG 1053, robs should have added...

    Mash Tun too wide

I've recently built a HERMS setup with 3 100l pots, system works great a problem I have realised is that because the pots are 500mm wide and 500mm tall if I use measured grain to water in my recipe the grain bed doesn't get covered, I have to add another 10l or so to cover the grain, therefore...

    Beer won't hold it's gas??

I've now come to the conclusion that the gas is ok it's the watery issue and lack of body ... Don't think any of us hold our gas, ha ha Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Beer won't hold it's gas??

I've actually had a problem pouring my golden ale now, really frothy, is this because the line is too short, if I have a longer line will it still be fine in my keggerator?? Or will I have to clean the line all the time? Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew
