Insulate crawlspace ceiling below office floor?

Hi All, Here is a picture of the crawlspace ceiling, right beneath where my home office desk is located. My feet get very cold right there. Would insulating the ceiling under my desk area be helpful? Or make things worse? Thanks, Steve

Drip feed fertilizer injector for deer repellent?

Hi Fellow Beer Lovers, There is a substantial deer overpopulation where I live. As a result, most homes have pretty limited gardens in their front yards. Liquid deer repellent works pretty well but needs regular reapplying with a sprayer of some sort. Would it be possible to use a drip feed...

Why are spotlights controlled by light switches?

Hey All, In my new old home, there are a number of motion sensitive spotlights, located by the garage in front, and on the deck in back. For some reason, they are controlled by light switches in the house. Anyone know why a previous owner would use light switches? Thanks, Steve

Novalager to reduce sulfer in cider?

Hey All, I'm a newbie cider maker. My first attempt tastes pretty good but there is definitely some sulfer in the initial aroma. Lallemand's Novalager yeast is supposed to not produce sulfer - has anyone tried it for cider?

    Ed at Sweetwater

My family and I picked up my brother-in-law at Atlanta Airport, and headed over to Sweetwater Brewery for a couple of pints. There was a sign saying that a special musical guest would be there from 3:30 to 4:30. We showed up at like 5:30 so we missed this guy, and the drinks were on him

    Belgian Triple step mash required?

I'm thinking about brewing Gordon Strong's "Alison" Belgian Triple recipe (similar to Westmalle). Fermentables are Dinglemans Belgian pils and table sugar. This 2015 recipe calls for mash rests at 131, 140, 145, 158 and 168F. Do you think this mash schedule is still required?

    Using older cryo hops

Hi All, I have some cryo Ahtanum that I'm using as a substitute for Cascade. It's been in my freezer and coincidentally its best buy date is 2/3/2023 - the Yakima Chiefs packet has never been opened. The usual recommendation for cryo is to use 50% of the required T90 amount. Think this still...

Some but not a lot of basement ceiling insulation

Hi All - I decided to upgrade the insulation on my basement's rim joist by replacing old fiberglass batts with solid foam board. For some reason, there is a small section of the ceiling that also has fiberglass batts, but not the whole ceiling. It's sorta located below where the kitchen dining...

    Worth getting dryer fixed?

Hey All, I moved into a new home a few months ago. The previous owner left behind a dryer and washer. The dryer has a very annoying thumping noise. I've had the thing apart and can't see any issues with the belt and rollers. The drum appears to be round with no obvious bumps. Is it worth paying...
