    Reusing an old aluminum pot

So a buddy of mine gave me an 8gal aluminum pot that he used for brewing but he didn't clean it out for what looks like a long time and it had mold and trunk in the bottom and sides. I have it soaking in dawn and scrubbed it with a scotch bright greenie so there won't be any deep scratches. But...

Carboy bung pushed in a little too far

So we bottled that beer today and ended up pushing in the bung and did the plastic bag trick to get the bung up and it worked without a problem. My wife was really impressed how I got it out with a bag as am I. Thanks for a the help, Prost!

So I don't know what happened but now it's going to make a fool out of me cause I woke up this morning and it is bottling and fermenting without a problem now, it only took one week to do so. Hopefully everything turns out fine with it. Thanks for the advice and help though.

    Yeast won't start

So I made a Black IPA from Midwest Supplies. The OG is a little lower then what was expected on the recipe card. I pitched the White Labs yeast as it stated on the vial but I didn't make a yeast starter from it which I should have I am kinda kicking my self in the ass for that. But its been...

Carboy bung pushed in a little too far

Well to learn from the past I just brewed some Black IPA and I bought some bungs with a lip on them so after sanitizing them I dried it and put it in the carboy so it wasn't a problem from last time. My only concern was the OG was .030 off what was on the recipe card where I was making from...

Carboy bung pushed in a little too far

Thanks for all the good advice, everything is working out good with it no leaks. I might try to pry it out before I rack it or just drop it in and pull it out with the bag trick afterwards. Here is a pic of what it looks like right now.

Carboy bung pushed in a little too far

So I finally brewed my first home brew and taking all the right steps only had one mishap. When I was inserting the bung in the carboy both were wet from the sanitizer solution and keep pushing out and me using a little too much force got it stuck in the neck of the carboy. So it's sealed so...

    Plastic vs. Stainless Steel Fermenters

I am looking into buying a 15 gal conical fermenter but the ones I find online for stainless steel are pretty expensive, especially since I want to get around 4-5 of them. I have found the plastic ones online that are a lot cheaper they say they are FDA approved but I don't know if that means...
