    Denver Water Woes (pH)

This is enlightening and not something I picked up on when I originally (finally) decided I wanted to pay attention to my water chemistry. I was in the mode of getting the numbers, plugging them in to the calculators and just following the instructions.... Seems I may be over-reacting a bit to...

    Denver Water Woes (pH)

Yeah, I did the Ward labs thing last fall, when I started getting in to brewing water chemistry... pH was in the mid 7's when I had the analysis done. So are saying that having such a high starting pH shouldn't be of significant concern, even though it requires having to add "more stuff" to...

    Denver Water Woes (pH)

Hah, true about the waiting... I was looking at the 3-4 gph systems and was thinking I should normally be able to collect enough water for a mash, and while I was doing the infusion, I would collect the water for the sparge, etc... I'm generally making batches that put 5.5 gallons in to my...

    Denver Water Woes (pH)

I have just recently started to really pay attention to water Chemistry and such for brewing different styles of Beer. I live in Lakewood, CO where we have Denver Water as the supplier of our water sources. I had our water tested last fall, so that I could start making additions with brewing...

    Regulator Issues?

So I've removed the ball lock from my sanke tap, and now it's just a direct connection with a threaded collar, and the problem still exists. The Sanke tap is also brand new, and the check ball was rattling around just fine when I took a look. Any other thoughts?

    Regulator Issues?

Hi, Finally after 4 years of home brewing, I'm getting in to kegging... A recent acquisition a 1/6 Keg of Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout (Funny Story) "forced me" (real arm twister, I know!) into buying a kegerator, which also happened to come with a 5 Gallon Corny with ball locks too...

    Who's Brewing in CO

I'm probably going to be brewing in the next week or two. I'm waiting for something to finish out in my primary fermenter first, which should be soon, or I'll just move it over to secondary. Have to figure out what I'm brewing next though. I live in Lakewood, if you're interested I can send...

    Denver Area Winter Beer Exchange

Glad you enjoyed the brew ChessKing! So yeah, I know the smoked malt is not in style, but I love me a good smokey Scotch, and wanted a little of a reminder of it in this beer. I definitely wouldn't add anymore either. I haven't ever tried Beech or oak smoked malt, so maybe I'll do that if I...

    Denver Area Winter Beer Exchange

I had one of the Red-E Eddie's. I thought it was good, but nothing truly memorable for me, other than a little hoppier than I like my beers to be, but I don't recall it being bad or something I don't want any more of either. I'm not too familiar with the style either, so it could be really...

    Denver Area Winter Beer Exchange

I agree on the vanilla being a bit too much, but only so in the finish. Smells and tastes great, but leaves a little off flavor in the mouth afterwards. It goes great with my wife's homemade brownies though! I thought my bottle was a bit under-carbed too but still carbed enough to enjoy. And...

    Denver Area Winter Beer Exchange

Glad you liked the Wee Heavy Hernando. I've had one of your Dark Ales last week, and I thought it was great. Nice and hoppy without having a mouth inverting bitterness that I dislike about a lot of "hoppy beers." I don't know that I would change anything about it. Had one of Botigol's...

    Denver Area Winter Beer Exchange

Yeah, I would say my Wee Heavy is on the low side of being appropriately carbed for the style, time will be good for this beer as well, but I drank one I chilled for a few days before the exchange, and I thought it was good. I hope you enjoy them.

Water Profile for Denver Metro Area

Evap rates are dependant on the surface area of water, and would vary from pot to pot. I get about .9 gallons per hour in my 15 gallon pot, which I use simply to avoid boil overs. As far as the water report stuff. I recognize that a water test is just a point in time thing, but it would give...

    Denver Area Winter Beer Exchange

Since I'm kind of new to this (first exchange), how does this usually roll out? Does everyone bring all their beer into the taphouse with them, or do we just meet up, have fun and then exchange everything in the parking lot afterward? Also, I'm pretty cheap and usually just write something...

    Denver Area Winter Beer Exchange

I'm happy with 4, but 5 works too. I suspect y'all are probably better at brewing than I am, so I was trying to keep the disappointment to a minimum with you having to suffer through 5 of mine ;)

Wow... What do you feed your yeast to get them to finish the ferment and clear everything up in 8 days?

Water Profile for Denver Metro Area

Hey All, Been looking at Water Chemistry and how it affects brewing, and I was curious if anyone local to the Denver Metro area had their water tested recently and wouldn't mind sharing the results (even for a price). You can get some of the information off of the DenverWater.org website, but...
