    First batch questions

    Everything you have said sounds normal. I would skip the gravity readings for at least two weeks. Every time you open the fermenter, especially as fermentations slows, is a chance for infection.

    Fresh hops

    My neighbor gave me a ziplock bag of cascade hops off the vine in his yard. They were picked last year. They were not dried, just put in the freezer. Should I use them? If so, is it better to use them in the boil or dryhop? Any guidance on how many to use would also be appreciated. Thanks
