HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I found Eagle files for a version of the BrewPi Spark done by @purpleogre. Had a couple boards made and soldered one - works perfectly, just as well as my 'real' BrewPi Spark. There are a couple surface mount components, but it wasn't too hard to put together. Link is below...

Make sure your element is SS if you can...

If I could revive those brain cells, I'd work out how much magnesium it actually added to the water. At any rate, I doubt it's much. I've had mine in for 3 years and it still looks like it did when I purchased it. You're spot on that this was in the days before SS elements were cheap.

There are a couple of other similar errors, all in the...

    Review: SSBrewTech Chronical 7Gal Fermenter

Does anyone have any hints how to get the leg extensions squared with the rest of the leg? Obviously doesn't impact the functionality, but would be nice to get them lined up so that they look nice :). Two of the three leg extensions line up nicely, but I can't seem to get the last one to line...

    Issues Whirlpooling and Chilling Simultaneously

I had the exact same problem in my setup and it turned out to be the height/angle of my whirlpool inlet. the inlet was coming back into the BK too low and essentially recirculating cooled wort. I had significant stratification in the BK - the bottom of the BK was cool to the touch while the...
