Racking and bottling my first beer

Also how do you normally add your priming sugar? I have one recipe that says to boil it in one cup water before adding to racked beer. And another that says add priming sugar to racked beer. Does it depend on recipe? Or does it not matter?

Racking and bottling my first beer

I have heard after primary fermentation the brew is resistant to contamination. Was checking to see if this was valid. Better to sanitize and be safe then sorry

How do you increase alcohol percentage?

@maxstout- my question was one of curiosity how you can build a recipe with a certain target alcohol of 9-10%. I enjoy a heavy IPA. Even though I have only been brewing for a little over a week I have both primary and secondary fermenters filled already. I enjoy brewing the pre packaged box...

How do you increase alcohol percentage?

Thanks for the feedback...I knew it had to do something with more sugar. Just was thinking you could overdo it, thanks for the formula.

What do I need for a pin lock keg system

I just went to local supplier today. $250 for the entire setup. My fiancé would kill me if I spent that kinda money already (especially since this is my first brew). I have the bottles, I just think kegging would be easier and less of a hassle. So instead of leaving shop with a keg setup I left...

So since light skunks brew should I leave glass carboy in a dark place for secondary fermentation?

    Is my beer contaminated!?

Thanks..I am new into the world of home brewing. I can already tell this hobby I have always wanted to do will turn into a slight addiction. The fiancé' is already asking herself, should I have bought him all this brewing equipment. More questions to come as I am going to venture into creating...

    Is my beer contaminated!?

checked the gravity of my dogfish head 60 min IPA after 6 days in the primary. I put lid back on and re sanitized the airlock. After sanitizing I put water in airlock and inserted airlock in place. It seems the suction pulled a small amount of water from airlock into the primary. This is my...

Tried hard to ruin my first brew

When putting my airlock onto my primary fermenter after checking gravity some water trickled into my beer from my sanitized airlock. Should I worry about this skulking my brew? This is my first batch and I don't want to mess up 5 gallons of dogfish head 60 min IPA or I'm gonna be passed. Please...
