    PLC Controlled System

Cool build. I've recently switched game plan for my setup from switches and relays to a touchscreen and a PLC after locating the components for an irresistibly low price. I am looking forward to seeing your schematics for many reasons, but one in particular. What are you using from your PWM...

    Switches

If you wanna use momentary switches, you will have to used a relay to "latch" that input on. Unfortunately you will have to use another switch to turn it off and deenergize the latched input. If you do want to use illuminated push buttons, just get the kind that are self latching. Push...

    Switches

Checkout http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/control-panel-safe-start-interlock for a great writeup for a safe start option. You'll have to modify it a little to make it work with your setup, but it's completely doable. :mug:

    Switches

The way it is drawn insinuates that switches 1 and 2 are DPDT switches wired Normally Closed (not sure why though.. ) and switches 4 and 6 are SPST switches 1(NO). SW1 will have to be rated for roughly 20A and SW2 for about 10A or so given the element wattages. (these aren't exact, just going...

I want to drill into my SS kettle - How do I make the hole threadable?

I'm gonna have to agree with the other posters. Your well probably has 1/2"-13 NPT threads. You are gonna want to install a 1/2"-13 locknut/o-ring and perhaps a washer as well to get a good seal. But, maybe you have a really thick sidewall and it will all work out great. A pic of your final...

Does Anyone Else Drink Straight From Their Bottling Bucket?

I thought it was common practice? :mug: I do like the bucket beer handle idea though.. I may have to develop that.. Cheers!

    HERMS Brew Station

Great build! Lots of idea floating around in my head now.. One question though, where did you get your temp probe from and how much? I really like the idea of having a QD on my probes.

Fermenting small batch in Mason jars

Glad to hear that it worked! I've never thought of using mason jars, but I'm going to try it next time in screwing around with small batch recipes. I too swear by carlo rossi jugs, they're perfect for all kinds of brewing applications. Cheers!

Why do I have activity in the valve after placing the beer in secondary fermenter?

I agree with Malty Dog, I always see a little airlock activity after transferring.. It isn't enough to lower my FG noticeably though. I chalk it up to dizzy yeasties left in suspension farting out their last bit of co2.. :drunk: Cheers!
