    Pumpkin Cider Recipe

Is an orange scuz a normal part of using fresh pimpkin?

    Vinegar mother?

So a google search turned up a thread that leads me to believe its the blueberries. The pics look spot on to what I "had" in the bottle. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f32/normal-looking-cider-343552/

    Vinegar mother?

No idea on pH, don't have one of those test kits.

    Vinegar mother?

So now I'm really flummoxed. The jelly substance just disintegrated when touched by my siphon. The taste isn't bad, but it isn't what it was on Monday. Today, there is more alcohol heat and less blueberry flavor. Racked it to a new container and topped up. Can still see some floaters...

    Vinegar mother?

I can only describe this as a large jellyfish like substance. Two days ago it was nonexistent and I was going to bottle it. Can I rack off from underneath, top up with juice and let sit for 3 weeks to make sure it's still good or wasting time? If it makes a difference, this is a blueberry...

    Pumpkin Cider Recipe

Well, mine is in the boil phase now. Few changes based on what I had on hand. 8oz 120L, 1oz torrified wheat (extra bag from Brandon O's graff), 2 pie pumpkins chopped and roasted, skipped the cloves and used whole nutmeg. Update my progress the week of Thanksgiving.

    Graff double check

Brewed my first batch of Brandon O's. Quick ferment but temps were mid-70's so not unexpected. Two straight days of 1.000 readings then I busted my test tube. My plan is to bottle either tomorrow or Saturday with 100g white sugar dissolved into 2c boiled water for priming, giving me a 2.2...

    Pumpkin Cider from Aldi's

The root beer extract I use says 5g of brewers yeast, with 3-4lbs of sugar, for a 5 gallon batch of root beer left out in the sun for 2 hours and left to bottle condition for 24 hours. Soda forums would have better info I suspect.

Floaties...what are they and is it okay?

I'll try to answer best I can. Because it is in secondary and isn't fermenting as actively as it was before, the head space has more oxygen than CO2 allowing for the bad stuff to develop. The usual recommendation for secondary is to top off within an inch or two of the bung.

How much Honey Malt in Cider

You have bottles of cider that are almost 3 years old? Oh please teach me! I have at least 3-5 gallons going at any one time and they don't last long enough for the wife to stay happy much less age for 3 years.

    Sweet Cider Help

Please. My grain order should be here on Tuesday. I ordered enough to do the stout graff and gunslinger graff recipes twice with a bit of langiappe for experiments (some honey malt and Special B). My concern is that I have zero beer brewing experience/equipment so I'm thinking of just using...

    Sweet Cider Help

GF, Do you have a graff recipe that you could post? Saw that you built off of Brandon O's but didn't know how far you've come with your development. Barring an outright recipe, maybe just a post outlining lessons learned?

Sale at Wally World - 1 gallon for 1$!

Meh, to late for that with this batch. Maybe the next one. Nice name though! :-)

Wasn't on sale at my local, but they did have cases of Musselman's apple cider in stock, finally!

    cider yeast question

I'm quickly becoming a fan of the Mangrove Jack M02 cider yeast. Find that my last few batches finish with a very nice apple flavor. Not sure how much of that is the yeast and how much was other factors though.
