    Bar build stage 1

No just nasty. Makes you wonder what the shape of most bars lines are.

    Bar build stage 1

So, I decided to forgo building the walkin for the time being. Xmas is around the corner. So I just bought a freezer and keezered it. I rebuilt the tower. Did the tile and started on the co2 and temp control systems. That will have to do till I get back from work for Xmas.

What are you doing instead of brewing this weekend?

. Feeling for you man. That sucks, when my wife gets sick you know it's bad.

    First Kegerator Build.... botched?

It could be the OL but I'm wondering at this point about the compressor. For future info, not sure if it happened here, but if you lay any fridge or freezer on its side you HAVE to let it sit upright for 24 hours of you risk killing the compressor. Here's hoping it's the OL

    1st Brew today

Or if you are like me you'll pop one after a couple of days. Then another. By the time it's ready you'll only have twelve left of your first batch. Oh well time to make another. You're hooked.

    First Kegerator Build.... botched?

All right. Do me a favor. You have a meter it sounds like. With the unit plugged in and the stat as low as possible go to the stat wires. Measure from one leg to ground and then the other to ground. If the stat is working you should get 120 or so on each leg. If you only get power on one leg...

What are you doing instead of brewing this weekend?

I'm at work in the middle of god forsaken nowhere northern Alaska. Wishing I had a homebrew. Can't even have a BMC, it's a dry camp. Oh well next weekend I'll be home and I'll get all the brewing and beer drinking I can stand for two weeks.

What came in the mail for you today?

Well let's see. SWMBO got her beaver skin lingere. I got 8 oz of hop union lambic hops(MMMM cheesy), I circ pump for my glycol setup, a six way co2 and two wayN2 splitter , a temp controller. And half a dozen credit card offers. All in all, a bumper day.

    Bar build stage 1

. Most always. She keeps my nuts in her purse and if I'm good I can have them back once in a while. Besides I've learned with myself anyway. If I listen, I will usually avoid a costly mistake.

    Adding fermentable sugar post ferment

Boiling will set some of the "stuff" in honey and will change the flavor of it a bit. But you are using it as extra fermentables so it shouldn't matter. As to the anti microbial properties any concentrated sugar solution will naturally be anti microbial as the osmotic pressure is too much for...

    Bar build stage 1

I really want to leave the patina. My wife says it looks trashy. No accounting for taste I suppose. Since the only thing she has said in the contrary to my wants on this bar and my brewery I suppose I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. I'll probably give in and polish it, if nothing more...

    Bar build stage 1

Just closed on a house. Has a cool bar in the mancave but no taps. There is a closet just below the bar ( downstairs) that I am turning into a walkin. So far I have been sourcing and ordering parts. Picked up an old tower that is glycol ready for a song. I hope to have on helluva mancave when...

    Denaturing Enzymes?

I have two completely different sets of soft goods (anything plastic) that I quarantine in separate areas. As long as you practice good sanitization techniques you should have no issues. Also. Anything Brett or wild in any way I use kegs and bottles clearly marked so. As to the barnyard flavor...

    Grants

Talk to me more about throttling back. I use a direct coupled pump so unlike a march I could easily get into a dangerous portion of the curve by throttling. I could use a bypass but that could cause priming issues. A VFD is next on my lust list that would solve it. But a grant does allow easy...

    Imperial pumpkin porter

I could be totally off but I believe your amounts of chocolate and black will clash with your desired pumpkin flavor. The vanilla bean calms those burnt toasty flavors nicely. But not sure what it will do with pumpkin and dark malts. I say go for it. You don't make good beer without...

    Denaturing Enzymes?

My thoughts exactly. Hot pockets are a big problem with consistency. Stir baby stir. You'll be surprised what your temp actually stabilizes at. With hot pockets you'll get a good mix of highly fermentable sugars and dextrins. I love adding Brett B to the keg/ bottling bucket and let her sit, no...
