    Beer in gas line

    Beer in gas line

Had something similar happen to me, but in my case the beer made it all the way back to the regulator and into it creating quite a mess. After learning this lesson the hard way, I added an in-line check valve to the connection between the ball valve fitting and the gas line thereby eliminating...

    Autumn Seasonal Beer Punkin' Ale

Won't have any affect what so ever. I've brewed this beer several times using the same recipe as you're using, except for the yeast, and never have a problem. The yeast won't mind. :)

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Going to brew my Cream Ale recipe tomorrow with a first time use of the WL080 cream ale blend of yeast. I've read a lot a good things about this yeast so I'm kind of excited to try it! Next in line is going to be my first attempt at a Porter.

    Autumn Seasonal Beer Punkin' Ale

I've found that this beer takes between 4-6 weeks before it's really reached it's prime. The alcohol content along with the spices take awhile to blend together and mellow out. Just kegged mine and it came in with an F.G. of 1.011 producing an ABV of 7.2%.

    Autumn Seasonal Beer Punkin' Ale

I spread mine out on an insulated baking pan so it's about 3/4" thick. Bake it at 350° for 60 minutes. Let it cool to the same temperature as your strike water and add it in.

    Autumn Seasonal Beer Punkin' Ale

I've brewed this beer twice now and have forced carbed it both times to 2.6 vol.'s. You'll loss a bit in the bottling process so your final product should be at about 2.5 vol.'s in the bottle, which past experience has told me is just about perfect! Hope this helps.

    Autumn Seasonal Beer Punkin' Ale

I also normally get a lot of trub when I brew this one. Brewed a 5 gal. batch of Reno's receipt this past Sunday and hit the same mark as last year 1.065 O.G. Used the Wyeast 1056 to ferment it with and I don't know if it was because the yeast was so fresh, production date of 6/22/15, or what...

ruined my beer by kegging? or....what?

Is it possible that the beer you bottled simply benefited from 2 weeks of additional aging? A quick way to find out is to taste the beer still in the keg against one that you bottled, if there is beer still in the keg.:) How does your water taste straight from the tap? Typically there is a...

Forced Carbonation Using a Carbonation Stone

Hi Woodbrews, I use a carbonation lid on my kegs with the carb stone attached to a piece of vinyl tubing long enough to get the bottom of the stone about 1" from the bottom of the keg. As far as sanitizing, I boil the stone in water for 20 minutes after every use and then hook it up to my CO2...

    Ball-lock keg pricing

I bought 2 used ball lock kegs through E-Bay last year and paid about $80.00 for both including shipping. They were in good condition with the worst part being was getting the root beer smell out of one of them. :) Kegs are not getting any cheaper as they are now being sold off to China by the...

Forced Carbonation Using a Carbonation Stone

Since I began to home brew I have always been a big fan of forced carbonation and since I brew a lot of lagers it helps cut down on the time frame between brew day and the time which you can open one and enjoy the fruits of your labor. I have tried the many methods described throughout the...

how much should a co2 refill cost?

I had my 10 lb. CO2 tank refilled recently at a cost of $18.00 at a local fire extinguisher service company in Wheeling, IL. I had been using another company closer to home, but they typically charged about $4.00 more for the same service.

    Grain Mills - Your opinion?

Love my Barley Crusher. Bought the standard size one and use it with an electric drill. I have probably used it to mill grain for 20-25 batches of beer and have never had a problem with it. I use it on the factory setting for barley and my mash efficiencies always range in the area of 88-90%.

American Amber Ale Red Rye Ale

I have been curious about rye beers since tasting a Hoss rye a while back and have been looking for a good recipe. After looking through all of the posts regarding this recipe I've decided to give it a try. For those that have already brewed this beer, does anyone have any advice they can...

    Autumn Seasonal Beer Punkin' Ale

After experiencing a problem getting my batch of pumpkin ale to carbonate properly, I'm finally going to bottle this coming weekend. Maybe the delay won't be so bad as it is now 8 weeks since brew day and from reading the posts from fellow brewers it would seem that this brew reaches it's best...
