    So it sounds like no water in the winter, right on thanks for the input. I have access to all the goat crap I can truck out. I might throw a layer of that on in the next couple of months, here in Redding we will usually have plenty of rain in the winter. -brian

    I'v searched around but haven't found an answer for what the winter watering needs will be of my hops. If it matters I live in northern California, we do get full on winter, snow some years, I know that the rhizomes go dormant so does this mean they wont need any water? if that's the case then...

    yeah they are leaf hops and yes I left the "aroma" hops in the wort when I poured into the primary. Next time I will try filtering the wort on the way to the primary.

    well i'll play the waiting game and see if the numbers continue to go down, so is the krasen a by product of the yeast causing the suspended junk to float up or is it the yeast itself?

    Im not sure on the spelling but the "Kroesen" or layer of stuff on top of the fermenting beer wont drop. This has been the case on the last few batches of beer I'v brewed.
