New Product! Cool Brewing Fermentation Cooler

I've had this bag for about two months now, so far the bag is great at maintaining temps. Definitely one of the best non fridge fermentation control methods. One thing I want to point out though is that the zipper for the bag is really delicate, the stitching on the zipper already started coming...

    Heat stick advice

I don't have access to soldier. Can I just use the JBWeld to glue the ground wire onto the pipe? I'm not sure why people needed to drill a hole through the chrome pipe, where they could have just used glue only.

    Heat stick advice

Thanks for putting this up. I also plan on using it with my induction burner. Do you regret not drilling a hole in the 1 1-2 chrome pipe? I wanted to skip that step also from the other guides.

Rehydrating dry yeast with tap water (no boil)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I already soak my cup in starsan before using warm water from the tap. I use camden tablets for my mash and sparge water so I doubt 100ml of the (chorline/chloramine) tap water will have an affect on taste on the 5 gallon batch of beer.

Rehydrating dry yeast with tap water (no boil)

I usually boil my water in the microwave and wait for it to cool before using it to rehydrate my yeast, but i was thinking I can skip this step entirely and use the water straight from the tap without having to boil it. I live in a city where there is a bit of chlorine and chloramine in the...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Just bottled today. Tried a sample from the hydrometer. Man did this taste tart and a bit sour. Finished at 1.006 so it was done fermenting. In primary for three weeks 68F. Hopefully it'll taste smoother once carbed and chilled in fridge.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I ended up using us-05 yeast instead of the mono wine yeast in the recipe. Can I still age this in the primary for 3 months? Never used a wine yeast before so I don't know the differences.

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Does this work for an all-grain version? 4# two-row (I plan on doing BIAB with 50-60% eff) (replaces DME) 0.5# Crystal 60L 1 oz Torrified Wheat Mash all grains at 156-158 for 60 min for fuller body (single infusion) 60 min boil add 0.5 oz ~5% AA hops at 30 min Cool wort, end with...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

To those who are thinking about using US-05. There is some krausen, I would use a 6 gallon BB instead of a 5. There will probably be blow off with a 5 if you use US-05.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Has anyone used US-05 with this recipe? I wanted to get something a bit sweeter and not so dry. I'm worried that there might be blow off with this yeast so maybe I should use my 6 gallon better bottle instead?

New Product! Cool Brewing Fermentation Cooler

Hey Guys, How does this compare to a son of fermentation chiller? I think both cost the same to make/buy. I'm currently using a ice bath and switching new frozen water bottles 3-4 times a day. Ideally I only want to change frozen bottles once a day.

Are you the one who cooks in the house?

Sweet! Just curious, surprised how many comments this got. I've been currently on a slow cooker craze. I love how you and prep the bowl the night before and you come home to a hot home made meal.

Are you the one who cooks in the house?

Hello my fellow brewers! Just curious to see if you are the one who does the cooking around the house. I figure most home brewers are since homebrewing is a lot like cooking. Both follow a recipe and you are mostly likely comfortable in the kitchen. I myself do all the cooking. The...

South Jersey/Philly Group Buy Round 37! PREORDER/INFO/COMING SOON!

Yeah, i've seen lower prices on HBT. I don't know of anywhere else in Philly that can beat that price tho. It's still cheaper than driving to south nj from philly w cost of gas and toll. Do you know of any other places that can beat that price factoring cost of driving/shipping cost if you order...
