HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Spent quite some time trying to troubleshoot this over the last day, and I'm still coming up short. I ended up ordering a Sainsmart Nano v3 (same specs as the Uno, just smaller), and it works fine on OSX but is not recognized by debian. The latter recognizes other usb devices fine (flash...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I have nearly everything to start my ferm chamber upgrade, including the newest revision (C) of the BBB running debian. Pretty fun little computer out of the box, and I'm looking forward to having everything up and running over the long weekend. For those of you who want to see the BrewPi...

    DIY Fermentation Temperature Control

A setup like this would most likely be really inefficient, but the design is an interesting one. You'll need to look into H-bridge circuits that can drive quite a bit of amperage for the peltier to get both heating and cooling, but it's definitely possible.

    Beaglebone Black as brewcontroller

Are you planning on documenting your setup, hitechlofi? Would love to start with your code base so I don't have to reinvent my own when my setup arrives!

    Vintage lab-grade fermentation chamber.

Totally right on the service part. I just heard back from the manufacturer yesterday about my request for the user manual, and they sent me documents as old as 1985 that go along with this thing. I have already had to play with the wiring a bit (some had frayed over the years), and I'm...

    Vintage lab-grade fermentation chamber.

I had recently been looking for a good mini fridge to mod into a ferm chamber, but then this came up for a $20 on my local CL. This is what happens when laboratory suppliers go crazy on consumer products -- all it is is a modified mini fridge with a fan and heating coil added to the freezer...

New Glarus Moon Man Clone Help

I balanced by AA% in the above blend. Reducing the target IBU may also reduce the perceived bitterness, as I didn't get anything but flavor and aroma during the first few weeks. Now that the flavor has faded I can taste some bittering, but it's still smooth and not unpleasant - just not as...

New Glarus Moon Man Clone Help

When I bring Moon Man back to Maryland, I notice a big difference in flavor if I save it for more than a couple weeks. Refrigeration would probably help keep the profile going longer, but for now any extra beer is stored next to my brewing equipment. Regardless of comparing it to Moon Man or...

New Glarus Moon Man Clone Help

I'm on my second batch of this, bottling this weekend. First batch was nothing short of amazing, and arguably better than the Moon Man I've had the last couple of times passing through WI. Aroma hops are fantastic immediately after bottle conditioning, and change noticeably over the first few...
