Tilt hydrometer continuous logging of data

I have a Tilt I have brewed with once. Really liked it and am getting ready to do my second batch. My question how long will the battery last? I had read that shipping can cause the battery to drain and my fermentation took 4 weeks. Should I change out the battery? How many fermentation’s...

    Hello from Newnan Ga

I have been on here for years, but took a hiatus for about 18 months when I started a new job and relocated from Palm Harbor Florida. I have been brewing on and off for 30 years and now have a 10 gallon rig where I brew all grain. Looking forward to learning and sharing its you folks.

    Cold crashing fermentation

Exactly what I found to be true. I found it much easier to transfer the wort and leave the trub behind. The trub was just heavier, for lack of a better way to explain it. The wort was cleaner as such I expect there to be less sentiment in the bottles.

    Cold crashing fermentation

Okay, I did this to my IPA that has been on the secondary and I noticed a significant difference. The beer was very clear. And when I moved it from the fermentation chamber to the table I put it on for bottling, it got "stir'd up" a little as it always does, but it settled out quickly. When...

    Cold crashing fermentation

Great point, I had not even considered creating a vacuum in the chamber. I will take care not to allow contamination.

    Cold crashing fermentation

I took a tour of Orlando Brewery this week and learned some interesting things. Orlando brewery is a micro brewery that makes organic beer and some of the best I have tasted. Those guys are really good. One thing I found particularly interesting is at the end of fermentation they drop the...

My insane 25 Gal, 100 Percent Hard Plumbed Tri-Clover, Automated Tippy Build

I trust you will share the article with us? If I could write it odd she would probably let me build one. But then I'd have to overcome a few obstacles like I have never welded anything in my life.

My insane 25 Gal, 100 Percent Hard Plumbed Tri-Clover, Automated Tippy Build

You are helping me so much. I have been upgrading as I go with my set up. I just added a blichman 20 gal brew kettle, a blichman burner with the legs, and a couple of chugger pumps to move the wort around. But my setup is a set-up tear down-around i set up in our out door kitchen. My wife has...

    Is this worth the money?

I agree.... The pumps are 130 -150 each. And I have at least $150 in cam locks and tubing, throw in 50 each for false bottoms and dip tubes... It adds up real quick. No you don't need this to make good beer, nut if you want it and you have the money it would be cheap at 900 IMHO..

Boy, did I learn a lot about beer this weekend

I always wonder if I have UBS. I think my beer is very good and it gets good reviews from my house guests as well. But I always wonder if they are just being polite. My most credible evidence I have that my beer is good is 1) on several occasions guests who had plenty of commercial beers as an...

    PVC to move hot water

Just got my march pump yesterday and I have spent the day rigging and playing with it. My first brew day using it will be Monday. I was also planning to use some short runs of PVC to move hot water but I just noticed the PVC is only rated to 23c for pressure ratings. There is not going to be...

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

Never thought about citrus, we have several groves around. I bet that would be good and uniquely Florida. Where in North Florida? I have family around Tallahassee.

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

Wish I had a source for cherry and pecan. Living in south Florida oak is available and in my area we have some maple but that's about it. I can buy the others at speciality shops but trying to heat my smoker with wood from those guys would require another mortgage.

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

I have 25 lbs of boston butt I will be smoking tomorrow. Along with a black bean recipe that sits on the smoke for three hours. I swear the beans are so good mmmmm.
