So its not letting me reply so to answer william slayers? They typically grow a little on the roof and wind will blow them off the roof and back on the plant usually a foot or so grows on the roof.... And to answer robx? Im in Damascus oregon they get sun from 6:30ish am till about 3:30 pm...

In oregon the hops get sun from anout 6:30 am till 3:00 pm, then they get decent shade till night time..... I watered these for the first time yesterday

When they reach the top they typically grow a little more than will fall back on themselves and start branching out

From left to right 2nd year perle, 2nd year chinook, 3rd year cascade, 3rd year centenial, 2nd year nugget....... These hops are growing like crazy this year!!!

I may be over reacting..... But my 2nd year hops dont look like this...

They are starting to look like that here is a pic of what i can reach without a ladder

My first year perle has grown great since day 1 . It was the first to the top, but i noticed alot of aphids on this particular plant.... Can they stress a plant enough to turn it male? The burrs that are starting to form dont look like normal.... And from a little googling looks to be the start...

Left to right ... 1st year perle, 1st year chinook, 2nd year cascade, 2nd year centennial..... Not pictured nugget .... Its always the first out of the ground but dies!!!

Haha love it!!!! Ladybugs help rid my hops of aphids last year...... I need to get more ive got one little lady thats eating good right now....

I agree ladybugs did the trick for me!!! Insecticidal soap did nada!

May i suggest 2 poles to keep cenntenisl and cascade seperate..... Last year it was a pain to untangle my cascade and centennial and they were 5 ish feet apart

Possible they messed up..... But those leaves look like my nugget, perle,chinook, and cascade..... How ever my centennial looks like mary jane.... In my experience as the plants grow they start to look similar...... Till you get to smell the difference in the cones.... Hoppy growing!!🍻
