    Help I brewed the pg 1 recipe- cant find my original og today is the 30th day. I racked it, tested it and it says 1.000 - water interesting taste but the Brix reading is 6 wth is going on? whats the cure, if any? This was my first single mix. Thank:confused:

    If you backsweeten with juice (like I do) and then bottle, the yeast will start eating the sugar in the bottles and produce CO2, carbonating your cider. I pasteurize the bottles at this point, to kill the yeast and stop them from eating more sugars, which would produce too much CO2 and explode...

    Thank you for that answer. So, if I understand correctly, to keep it "aging" I either stove top it or cold crash( which is taking your carboy and putting in the fridge at 40 for 2-3 days-right?) That way it ages after you sugar it for bottling. Otherwise, if you want a non carbonated...

    I have a question. I am in week 3 now and i still see small bubbles. If I test the ABV and its low, can I add dextrose? Or should I leave it alone and chaulk it up. I followed the original page one recipe but used sucrose being a newbie... oh what i have learned. Thanks.
