Racked beer on top of some one-step!

Per the manufacturer Not to worry; your wine is fine. I would doublecheck your sulfite if you can, because the One Step will consume some of it. If you don't have an easy way to check sulfite levels, simply add 1/8 tsp of potassium metabisulfite (dissolved in a few ounces of water). That...

Racked beer on top of some one-step!

Did the beer turn out ok? I just made a similar mistake with a small amount in the bottom of a carboy on wine transfer.

    Topping up Wild Plum Wine

Yup. Time and patience are your best friends. When it cleans up and the co2 clears completely in a few months it will be measurably better. Bottle aging will help it that much more.

    Topping up Wild Plum Wine

It should be fine as it's still probably fermenting and pushing Co2 to fill that head space. Your next transfer is the one you want to nearly eliminate headspace. So order the smaller glass carboy. When you transfer get it to 2" from your stopper. The remainder you can transfer to clean and...

    NorthernBrewer Bourbon Barrel Porter

Hope it doesn't finish as high as mine did! A 3.5% porter seems like a waste! Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    NorthernBrewer Bourbon Barrel Porter

Mine is now 5 days since adding bourbon and cubes and I'm noticing A&W root beer type bubbles around edges. Not covering full surface or krausen like. Normal? anyone else see this? My final gravity did end fairly high after 3+ week primary 1.028. But I've had issues with this yeast in the...

    Best bourbon for beer?

Makers mark. Makers 46 if you want a slightly sweeter flavor. I've had good results with both.

    What are you drinking now?

A bourbon stout I bottled July of last year. Time has served it well.

    First Batch Testing.

Good. Enjoy. Heavy full beers like the scotch ales will really improve over the next few months, not weeks. Some of those flavors you can't put your finger on may vanish in time. You will also learn that your second batch should already be well on it's way by this point. Nothin more worrisome...

    Now what!?

We didn't move ahead with much other than packing up some stuff. Our bank ordered an appraisal on the house we were buying. So I'm out that $ if we don't close. I feel even worse for the people whose house we hope to buy, they moved out and are renting already!! No wonder their realtor wants a...

    Now what!?

Deal is dead. Open house on Saturday. Showing tomorrow. So there is hope. I like the bottle collecting idea. I've never done gallon size batches. So that's a great option too. As far as my opinion on the guys mom.....she should have bought plan B!

    Now what!?

Thanks Charlie P! The story in the form of a question. Who is f'ing dumb enough to finance something massively expensive between preapproval and the bank underwriter finalizing your loan? What the hell do people think? There are consequences to stupid choices.

    Now what!?

We have been in the process of selling our house for 6 months now. Finally had an accepted offer on our home July 5th. Start packing up the non essentials and finish up the 2 brews I had to bottle. All my equipment safely packed away in storage waiting to be busted out to make beer at a new...
