    Adding Zest to Beer

I added lemon zest to my most recent brew. I added the zest of 3 lemons to it with 5 min to the end of the boil. I find the flavor comes through a little bitter in the end. I think maybe zest in secondary may provide a fresher flavor. But I have yet to do that. I would be interested to see if...

    Beer in my CO2 tank

Regarding the application of any heat to the tank. There is a big difference between the the heat from the sun and fire impingement. Either way, no need to heat anything. I remember reading somewhere about cleaning scuba tanks and it was with simple green and warm water. Just be certain that the...

I blew the lid off of my fermentor!

Same thing happened with my Irish stout a few months ago. I only had an air lock in at the time. So the lit flipped in the air. I had krousen on my walls and ceiling and shandeler. I foud after that, if you wrap a large towel around the lid and let it drap over the sides it will keep the krousen...

Who is brewing on Long Island?

Thanks for the info. I don't know what's worse, the fact that I was misinformed or that I, in turn, have been misinforming people for years now.

    Humorous homebrew names

I named my dry Irish stout "Theresa's Fury". Because that's what I had to endure after 2 boil overs in the kitchen and then the next morning we awoke to the lid exploding of the fermentation bucket that was on my kitchen table. There was krousen everywhere, even on the ceiling.

Did I Waste My Money on a Brand New CO2 Tank?

I think hydro is done every 5 years for an aluminum tank. Longer for steal with a star stamped next to the date. one of the nice things about exchanges is that you don't need to worry about that.

    Why I LOVE my Kegs

I just finished my first keg today. Took me totally by surprise. I thought I had at least a growlers worth in there. I guess I underestimated my beer consumption. But at least the keg is now empty for my stout.

    Citra hops

I just finished a keg of APA that I dry hoped with Citra ( .5oz in 5 gal). The citrus aroma and flavor was great. I'm pretty sure I used chinook for bittering and flavoring in the boil.

    Can I ship this stuff?

When I was getting beer on the month club deliveries, it came ups. Each bottle had a cardboard package and six bottles fit into a box tightly. I would assume ups knew that it was beer because they would have picked it up from the beer club or the brewer. Also, my mother gets wine delivered ups...

    just purchased 20lb co2 tank-how do I?

Here is a side by side photo of the co2 vs o2 valve. Notice one and a flat face which is where you place the washer, that's co2 The o2 has a indent. I'll call it concave. The regulator has a convex piece that connects, o washer or tape needed. Also notice, one has threads that are finer and...

    just purchased 20lb co2 tank-how do I?

It actualy looks like an AL80 scuba cylender. besides the size and shape, the givaway is that white equipment inspection sicker and that rubber boot on it, scuba cylinders require a yearly visual inspection by a dive shop, where as all other gas cylinders don't. I think that other narrow white...

    just purchased 20lb co2 tank-how do I?

If you look on the neck of the tank for the working pressure. A SCUBA tank is rated for 3000 psi and from what I've seen of my co2tamk is that it's rated for 1800psi. Also the valve would be very different. A co2 tank has threads on the outside diameter. A SCUBA tank has what's called a yoke...
