    Brew Boss Systems

Yeastylad, I am having the same problem with the app crashing just as you explained about editing steps, but I have not had it crash during the brew. I have a Nook I loaded Android on since it wouldn't run the Brew Boss app on it's native OS. I figured the crashing had to do with my setup...

    Brew Boss Systems

@mcgimpkins, my first attempt was actually the worst (I had the order wrong). I wasn't careful with sanitation or process in general since I knew the day was going to be about learning the system. I should have tried a little harder. It was contaminated and had to pitch it. The 2nd time was...

    Brew Boss Systems

I completed my 4th brew on by new BB system last night (15 gal, bag with false bottom). First 3 produced results that went bad, horrible, drinkable. Hoping for better results this time. I was able to learn how to set up my Beersmith profiles which helped me hit my targets this time. My...

    Brew-Boss and Spa Panel configuration

Thanks guys! I also finally found the interactive diagram on spadepot.com that confirmed it. Can't wait to get this project finished and try out the new Brew-Boss.

    Brew-Boss and Spa Panel configuration

Looking for some help on how to connect my new Brew-Boss system to a spa panel. Most of the research I find addresses a 3-wire power supply from the drier to the spa panel and 4-wire to a control panel. I have a 4-wire drier plug and the Brew-Boss system is 3-wire to the control unit. Does...

    Airlock activity in the secondary?

I thought the same thing to about a temperature rise, but I checked it with the temp controller and it hadn't changed from when I pulled it out of the fridge. I wasn't careful not to disturb it when moving it to the kitchen since I wasn't racking it. I wasn't crazy with it, but maybe moving it...

    Airlock activity in the secondary?

Ahh, makes sense! My last few brews were with a bucket that didn't seal well and got no airlock activity. Went to the carboys this time and got more than I expected. Off-gassing isn't a term I had come across before. That's something I would have would have said my dog does in his sleep...

    Airlock activity in the secondary?

I fermented in the primary for 2 weeks with activity from the blow off tube most of that time. I checked it after a 2 or 3 days of no activity and I had hit my FG target. I racked to the secondary 3 days ago. Pulled it out of the fermentation fridge last night and did not notice any airlock...

What to do after a disastrous day?

My guess as to why I was so high on my OG was due to my boil volume. The recipes from the book call for a 7 gal boil volume. That only leaves me with 1/2 gal head space in my kettle, so I went with 3.5. The book calls for putting 5.5 gal into the fermenter, which I added enough to get to that...

What to do after a disastrous day?

Unionrdr, thanks for the tips. I'm gonna give the dry hop a try. The wort sample I took for the gravity reading has more of a sweet smell than a hop smell. It tasted okay. After a week of dry hop, can I cold crash it to clear it up?

What to do after a disastrous day?

Thanks. If it turns out okay, I'll be surprised and chalk it up as a learning experience. I see a lot of posts about dry hopping, but not sure what it is or what it does for the beer. How do I do that? I have some hops left from my initial purchase and was wondering what to do with them.

What to do after a disastrous day?

Weekend before last I decided to move up from off the shelf kit brewing to an extract recipe from the Brewing Classic Styles book. I bought enough for 2 batches - an American Pale Ale and an American Amber. I chose to start with the Amber. I steeped my grains and was ready for the extract. I...
