    brite tank serving tap

Thanks for the input. We are looking into building something that resembles a jockey box. Coiled 6' 3/16" SS tubing hidden inside a larger tube, much like if you were to put a coiled line in a kegerator draft tower. Then we could potentially fill that volume with ice/ice water, and/or some type...

    brite tank serving tap

I'm trying to build and wondering if anyone has ever seen a brewery that taps directly from their brite tanks. As in a faucet hooked up to a ~6' insulated beer line that sits next to or on the brite tank. Acting as a giant keg. We have four jacketed brites behind our bar and would like to use...

    Dry hopping technique

Thanks for the knowledge. I hadn't heard of nucleation points before. So in your method, do you add your pellets and seal it with no bubbler or blow off? Then cold crash it 5 days or so later?

    Dry hopping technique

I have just brewed my first IPA of the Brew Season, (Living in Arizona with your brewery in the garage..not fun in the Summer). On to dry-hopping this weekend. I have a theory. I've noticed that bigger breweries tend to add their dry hops to their fermentation tanks right before sealing them...

    foamy beer, no solutions

Thanks for the advice. I do appreciate it. I do have a tower cooling fan because I've had that problem in the past. First beer and a half was foamy then perfect pours after that. I wasn't using the fan for awhile because I was just using a black spicket which was working alright, not great but...

    foamy beer, no solutions

Jesus Christ people. Sorry for posting the same thing twice. It didnt show up that I posted first so I posted again. No need to get so offended. 10 ft lines make no sense. One foot of line can handle 2psi. I'm not serving my beer above 15 psi. I've had 5-6 foot lines forever and they've...

    Foamy beer, no solutions

Any guidance/experience out there? I have homebrew (an IPA) in my kegerator now. I've spent hours and many beers trying to figure out this over foamed beer problem. I thought I had over carbonated it a month a go. De-carbed it, recarbed at 10psi for two weeks (the old set it and forget it...

    Foamy beer, no solutions

If it happens to be overcarbed, how long would you say it takes to return to normal carbonation? Using the "shut off gas and continuously purge every few hours" method?

    Foamy beer, no solutions

3/16" The beer line is 5 feet exactly but is connected to another foot long stainless steel tube 3/16" inside the tower. 6 feet from tap to faucet. I have done this same rushed carbing technique in the past which has worked out pretty well, or was still somewhat flat after 5 days.

    Foamy beer, no solutions

I charged it at 35 psi for about 30 hours, turned off the gas, purged, set at 10psi and let it ride out for 3-4 more days, purged and serve. I have done this method in the past and has worked well. I did get a new hose that screws on to the keg tap and faucet so I thought that might be the...

    Foamy beer, no solutions

I recently kegged my homebrew and cannot get it to spit out good ol' beer...only foam and more foam. I feel as if I have tried everything. My kegerator is sitting just below 40F, my beer line is 5+ feet. I have tried every level of psi from 1 to 12 with only 1-2 psi working. Everything is tight...

    2013 Homebrewing Resolutions

My Brew Years Resolution: 1. Brew more beer (always having a homebrew to drink) 2. Dumb it down from IPAs and explore more. I love them too much 3. Start All Grain Brewing (might be getting a lautering system for Christmas) 4. Work on opening up a nanobrewery/mini brewpub 5. Enter a brew...

Funny things you've overheard about beer

A text I just received from my friend: dude want to hear some funny stuff? being the beer snobs that we have become, it was classic....kayla and i went to monastery the other day, i ordered a count hopula *(Bloodred IPA)*or a devils ale *(strong pale ale)* i said ill have either....this *****...

    OG question

And it shouldn't affect the final beer much besides just a lower abv. Looks like you'll still get a solid 5-5.2% Porter which is still not bad.

    OG question

I had a similar experience on my second batch. I was convinced I didn't have enough malt but my LHBS told me I probably didn't give it a good long stir after adding water before reading an OG. I ended up adding 3lbs of DME late and mine went up to 1.060. I have since done this good stir on...

    Late Dry Hop

Sorry. Yes, not "fermenting" in secondary. Fermentation has met attenuation. I always transfer to secondary after fermentation is complete But yes 5 vs. 10 days. I've done 10 days on two different batches in the past and haven't noticed that much hop aroma. This is why I'm wondering 5 days...

    Late Dry Hop

Just brewed an American IPA last week. Should be finishing up in the primary today or tomorrow. Planning to dry hop but am wondering (after some research on preferences) what would be better. Dry hop for 10 or so days in Secondary, then keg... Or Ferment in Secondary for 5 days, then dry hop...

    Secondary for 7, 10, or 14 days?

Damn. You have a lot of patience. I don't know if I have the will power to wait that long, but more power to you. I've done some research and may just keg it tomorrow...but charge/carb it and let it sit for 1 month. Many porters and stouts seems to peak 2-6 months, however I don't want to lose...

    Secondary for 7, 10, or 14 days?

Currently I am dry hopping a Black IPA (14lb grain bill - 5gal) in secondary and am wondering how long I should wait until kegging it. It read an OG of 1.065 and has been in the secondary for 9 days. I originally planned to keep it there for 14 days but am second guessing (in regards to...
