    Never used Lactose please help!!

    I am currently working on a beer that is calling for 8oz of Lactose. Do add this in the main boil or when I transfer to the fermenter?

    I am just reading the temp strip on the fomenter, it says it is 55 right now. I am thinking of getting some insulating foam and building a box then putting a light with some foil around it in the box for heat do you think that would work? What wattage would you think I need?

    Temp Issue

    Yet another newb equipment list

    You should be good with just the Fermtech AutoSiphon that is what I use instead of a racking cane. Also get an 8 gal or more pot if you can, I got a 5 gal and moved to AG pretty quick when I started and now the 5 gal pot is sitting in my garage (waste of $50.00).

    Yeah I made a starter for both 3 days in advance. I only did a 60 minn mash @ 150 but I did the iodine test and it looked fine. I can’t figure it out.

    Temp Issue

    My last 2 beers have had a bad attenuation % (I have been around 55%-60%). I have the 02 setup so I know my aeration is good. I am wondering if temp has anything to do with it my basement has been really cold lately like around 60 f. would this cause bad attenuation and if so what is the best...

    Yeah I went to Redrock last night after seeing the winners. The beer and food where great, but just stay away from the oatmeal stout. It was really thin with no flavor. Just my 2c.

    Wierd Kraeusen??

    It is sitting @ 68 now but the temp in my basement has been all over the place. My other brews have had foam this looks more like clay :) I will try the towel and fan. This weekend we are supposed to get snow what advice to you have for warming it up? Thanks again!!

    My last 2 brews have had I wired Kraeusen form at fermentation. I was just wondering if it was the yeast I am using?? Here are some pictures and i used White labs on both one Trappist Yeast 500 and one Kolsch Yeast 029. Thanks

    They didn’t have any and they wanted about $10.00 more than the online places. I buy all of my supplies from them they do an excellent job, plus the service there is great!!
