    Panel Mount RTD connectors

Agreed. I got confused one day on the PID v PID w/SRR v w/contact... I called them up, said it was for beer, and the guy basically said "dude, this is what you want"... It was very refreshing.

What to use for control box on E-brewery build

I've become an avid user of fermcap as well. Not so much for fermentation, but for the boils. Especially for preparing starters. I boil the starter wort right in my Erlenmeyer, with the shape of an Erlenmeyer, boilover is all but guaranteed without fermcap. Great stuff.

What to use for control box on E-brewery build

Those are good points. Although I'll try to keep it watertight where I can, there are inevitably going to be some holes. By virtue of the fact that I am installing RDT sensor connectors and 120V outlets on the exterior of the panel, I know I won't be absolutely waterproof. That said, the plan...

What to use for control box on E-brewery build

Just scored a 16"x14"x6" from eBay for $70 including shipping. I think that should work - it's Nema 4X, rated for outdoor. I am planning to tap a 120V leg off the 240V for pump and aux power. Chosenwon, I could just as easily use that for the PID too, but I don't see a good reason to go one...

What to use for control box on E-brewery build

Auberin's lists the supply voltage as 85~264VAC/50~60Hz. Can you elaborate on what you mean by "don't like high voltage"?

Do you happen to have any pics of how your fit everything in?

What to use for control box on E-brewery build

What is everyone using for their control box/enclosure on their electric builds? I've found a few online that are designed for this purpose (sealed, sub panels, ventilation, etc.) but they are all buku bucks. Ideally, I'd like the following: - HWD: 16"x20"x6" (or ballpark) - a single screw...

    Mike's Electric Indoor Brewhouse

    Yes, that helps. Thanks.

    Mike's Electric Indoor Brewhouse

Agreed, nice write-up. I also like the idea of the bottom drain I have a question - not sure if it is appropriate for this thread but didn't think it was worth starting a new one. I'm planning to go electric as well (though not indoors), and am wondering if it is possible to tap off of...

I've Had it With These POS Traceable Thermometers!

True, but it would be nice to unplug the MT probe and plug in the HLT probe so I can monitor both w/o actually removing the probe. I think I'm leaning toward installing a bulkhead fitting on the MT and HLT and getting a couple threaded probes from Auburn for some permanent installs. I would...

I've Had it With These POS Traceable Thermometers!

That looks like a good deal ($25.43), except if you want to buy an extra probe to go with it. The probe costs MORE than the entire device (which includes a probe for $25.98)?!! What's up with that? Thermometers - Type-K Beaded Probe - Control Company Model 4028

    Kegerator in basement-taps in kitchen

Not sure if you've thought about this, but you may want to think about migrating to beergas or nitrogen for pushing your beer, if you haven't already. The pressure you'll need in the kegs to push beer up a floor may end up overcarbonating your beer. I have a similar housing situation - beer...

    WhoGarden (hoegaarden clone)

Thanks. I agree, I always try to error on the longer side when in doubt. I'm certainly not in any rush, I still have 3 full kegs ;)

    WhoGarden (hoegaarden clone)

Thanks for the tip(s). Like I said, this is my first AG batch, and it's never taken me more than 4-5 days for primary before.

    WhoGarden (hoegaarden clone)

Well, I ended up pitching the cultured yeast rather than the WLP400 - just because I felt like being adventurous. That was seven days ago. I went to keg it tonight and, to my surprise, there was still a thick layer of krausen on top. Evidently, the yeast hasn't finished its job yet - but I...

    WhoGarden (hoegaarden clone)

I brewed on Saturday with my cultured yeast. I stepped it to 1L, but didn't have enough time to get it to 2L. I aerated the wort a little to help compensate - time will tell if that will be enough or not. Either way, it was bubbling aggressively by Sunday morning so we'll see what happens. I...

Building a kegerator in my basement bar, from scratch

I guess my drinking habits are somewhat dictating my design - I generally only have 1-2 beers a day, and I'll often skip several days either because I'm traveling or because I'm watching my girlish figure. So I don't want to have to dump half a beer each time - and I refuse to drink warm, flat...

Building a kegerator in my basement bar, from scratch

Thanks guys. Just paper engineering at this point, so I wouldn't call it impressive yet. If I ever get it built, then I'll be taking any cookies you might have.

    Looking for Meade recipies/recommendations.

Hey all, My Dad has a couple hives in SE Michigan and wants me to make a batch of Meade that we can split. He gave me about a gallon of honey, so now I need to figure out what I want to do. For wines, we both defintely prefer full-bodied dry reds for the most part (zinfandels, syrahs...

    WhoGarden (hoegaarden clone)

I'm also doing a Hoegaarden clone this Saturday, no cumin for me though ;) regarding the yeast, it seems generally accepted that WP400 is the stuff. However, has anyone determined for sure whether or not the bottle sediment is the real yeast or whether it is just a conditioning yeast? Reason...
