Thanks for the terminology correction, and the tip!

Pay for BeerSmith, or BrewTarget for free?

Thanks for the info! I have that page bookmarked, and will use it for sure. I'll have to do some research on how to set up the inputs for a full volume boil, but researching and learning things like that is part of the fun and interest for me.

Pay for BeerSmith, or BrewTarget for free?

Ha! Yeah, I think I'll end up in that category as well. (Hence, the research on software before I even get started... LOL) It seems that the software would make all of the water calculations (and others) much easier.

Pay for BeerSmith, or BrewTarget for free?

I'm a PC guy, so it looks like I need to just fool around with things and see how they go. I am in the equipment-gathering phase, so I am the newbest of newbs. I can see the value of the software, and how it can help me improve myself once I get things dialed in. The interface doesn't...

    Allow myself... to reintroduce myself.

Thanks everyone! I love forums as a resource and as a community. I am a Mod on a cigar forum, built and Admin a forum for my podcast, and participate in a variety of others. This is such a huge forum, I don't know how you can keep up here! :D I have read a ton already, and have started...

    Kettle vs. Burner diameter

Cool, thanks for the info! I figured there wouldn't be much to choose from, so I'll just get as close as I can with the flattest bottom possible.

Pay for BeerSmith, or BrewTarget for free?

Thanks for the good thread. I am brand new (as in still getting things together for my first batch), and am going to start with 1.5 gallon (approx.) small batches to dial recipes in and such before moving to larger batches at some point. I intend to do full volume boil BIAB for both small...

    Kettle vs. Burner diameter

I am in need in a 5 gallon kettle to use on my electric radiant cooktop to brew some small batches (1-2 gallon full volume BIAB) (I assume a 5 gallon kettle would be an appropriate size, and I already have a 15 gallon kettle for when I start larger batches.) Anyway, my stove is an electric...

    Allow myself... to reintroduce myself.

Greetings! I actually signed up here about 4 years ago with the intention of jumping in with both feet right away. I picked up a few things, but then life happened (as it tends to.) I've since moved, and am ready to start picking up where I left off. I plan to start off with brewing...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Hey all, Well, I read the first 75 pages of this thread, and from 500 to current. I am sold on gallon brewing for a variety of reasons. I got a BBS Oatmeal Stout kit that got me researching.... While I will follow the kit's instructions as they are for the first batch, I want to start...

Best way to re-heat smoked meat??

That is exactly what we do - I usally do enough for about 4 sanwiches in each bag, and keeping it sealed and reheating like this is the way to go!

Well, I haven't actually started yet, but I am here doing lots of reading and research for when the time comes... We're moving this summer from Salida up to Ripon, and when we get all moved, I have the green light to get things going. :)

Yeah, when it comes time to get started, I will defitely check out B&W... don't want to waste too much of their time kicking tires until I actually have the go-ahead... ;) Eventually, I am thinking of walling in the cave so that I can have A/C and a ventilation system in there... When...
