Since we have a pile of Socal members

I'm down to brew most any weekend, assuming I'm in town. I thought my prior post was confirmation, but if you'd like a formal 'I'm in', here it is: I'm in! I'll even suggest a date if that helps - how about Sunday, the 24th of March? This is arbitrary and a good day for me (This...

Since we have a pile of Socal members

I think we need a concrete "I'm hosting here at this date" from someone. Until then it is just a 'yeah, i would host if we do this sometime' kinda thing..

I was out of town when the last one was proposed, but I'd still love to get together if we do another one. We are cuttin' down trees & building fences for a bit in my back yard though, so i can't host. I can bring beer & brewing stuff to do a batch though!

    Beer Geyser

Thanks for the replies. I did try and dissolve the lactose in some whiskey/rum mixture (same one i use for my regular awesome eggnog), but since i didn't want to add a liter or so of liquor it wasn't completely dissolved - there were definitely some sugar solids left. The other keg did foam up...

    Beer Geyser

So i was adding some adjuncts to an Imperial Stout yesterday and it foamed right up out of the keg on me. Not quite a geyser, but it was overflowing all around the rim - probably enough to put out about a gallon and a half in 15-20 seconds. I got the shop vac out and cleaned up. Looked like a...

Since we have a pile of Socal members

I'd be down for a meet-up sometime. Depending on the timing I may be able to do a demo/tutorial brew session as well. My brewing rig is setup for travel and extract or all grain (usually do the latter). I'm in San Marcos, but a trip up to Murrieta for some BBQ isn't a bad thing ;) There's...

Not sure what counts as inland - I'm in San Marcos.

    White Labs Tasting Room

Been there twice, did the tour - it is pretty awesome. They usually have 4-5 sets available (3-7 of the same beers all with different yeasts). Really opens your eyes to exactly what the yeast is contributing as well as trying out some interesting yeast combos and getting ideas. The tour...

I'm in North County San Diego also - San Marcos to be specific. I would be interested in a forums meetup or brewday as well.

Ginger beer plant to ferment ??

I have never tried that, but i used to have a Ginger Beer Plant colony. Sadly it did not survive my neglect.. You should do it, I for one would be curious how it turns out!

    Greetings from San Diego

Hi, just joined the forum but I've been brewing for quite a while now. I'm usually around the Del Mar / San Marcos area, depending. For San Diegans, we have a few local clubs also, you may want to check these out: www.quaff.org/ [i'm not a member, hear good things though]...

    My first keg death.

Please let us know if this works - I've been wondering about those 'thicker and squishier' rings williams sells for a while now, but (thankfully) haven't needed to pick one up as of yet. Still - inquiring minds wish to know!
